Agreed Lilly although based on the last few years regarding cervical check and working backwards I’d say women got the brunt of it. Kids with conditions like scoliosis are also being left behind as are pretty much everyone who cannot afford the money for proper mental health care.
But its the ”Irish” Daily Fail so they wanted a reason to put a picture of a hipster from 2015 for ‘Movember’ so they had to say something I suppose?
Hipsters – so original they all appear to look the same. Are they even a thing anymore or did they get embarrassed by their neo mullets and dreadful facial hair and just slink away?

November is for testicular cancer like October is for breast cancer and May is for mental health.
A lot of people are being let down by our health service with ridiculous waiting lists and insufficient services being only part of the problem but it’s okay for the spotlight to stop on one group every now and then.
I do hate that moustache though and seeing the rise of the mullet these days is… troubling.

To my mind the scoliosis nightmare is one of the most disguisting deriliction of duty of care of these children. Many of whom are now adult and are forced to live with this entirely fixable problem. Our rulers have no shame.
Has there been any reason given why one of the defendants in the Lunney trial were given anonymity and only referred to at YZ? Also why now have they been found guilty and still referred to as YZ?

YZ is such an upstanding citizen that he just so happens to be involved in another ongoing case so naming him would prejudice the other case is my vague, fuzzy understanding of it. Delighted these scum will do time, pity the other one died before getting justice, incredibly brave fellow that Lunney chap.

A satisfyingl memory returns to me from a few years ago while listening to Joe Duffy discuss a wave, over the Easter holidays, of cyclists being attacked by gangs of youths at traffic lights around the canal at Rathmines/Harold’s Cross. Apparently people were being mugged, had their bikes stolen and were victims of other such thuggish behaviour.
A no-nonsense, older Mayo man called in. Said he carried a good metre of sewer-rod on his person while cycling in case he encountered any difficulty. Turns out that he did, at the canal by said group of thugs. As he was approached when stationary he read the tea-leaves, saw what was coming.
“What did you do” Joe asked?
“I cut the arse off them” he replied.
“And what happened then” Joe enquired.
“They ran off crying for their Mammies” was the reply.
I don’t mean to be facetious, this type of justice is rare and this category of thug is one of the lowest and most cowardly – targeting who they perceive to be the most vulnerable. That said it’s nice when someone can stand up to them and give them a taste of something painful.
