Goodnight Vienna

at

This morning/afternoon.

Via ABC:

Austria took what its leader called the “dramatic” step Monday of implementing a nationwide lockdown for unvaccinated people who haven’t recently had COVID-19, perhaps the most drastic of a string of measures being taken by European governments to get a massive regional resurgence of the coronavirus under control.

The move, which took effect at midnight, prohibits people 12 years old and older who haven’t been vaccinated or recently recovered from leaving their homes except for basic activities such as working, grocery shopping, going for a walk — or getting vaccinated.

Well it is the next logical step, but could quite easily backfire.

If the unvaccinated are locked out then who exactly is spreading it?

An unvaccinated 20 year old is at lower risk of hospitalization than a double vaccinated 70 year old. This is completely statistically well known/verifiable, its not an anti-vaxx wacky conspiracy or anything.

Given that, if this is about hospital capacity, why isn’t it an age based lockdown? Locking everyone over 70 down, regardless of their vaccination status, would do far more to help society.

‘i’m just going for a walk, officer’.
‘i’m just going to work, officer’
‘i’m just going to get my shopping, officer’
absolutely unenforceable nonsense. and i thought we were bad for ‘legislation’ that has more holes than gorgonzola..

      Indeed. Unenforceable really.

Then you’d have to wonder what the real point of it is. Stop people protesting perhaps?

Let’s see if it’s extended past the 24th Nov.

‘i’m just going to get vaccinated, officer’.

What you going do about it?

As regards the philosophy behind this discrimination, it is not intended to stop the spread of the virus as it is not designed to prevent unvaccinated people from meeting other people. The permitted activities will involve social interaction, in most cases. Things that don’t involve social interaction and which would, therefore, be ‘safe’ for everyone – like going for a drive, just for fun, and staying in the car – are not permitted. It is simply a punative measure against those who, for good reasons, won’t be obedient to the demands of the powerful.

As regards actually preventing the spread of the virus, as both vaccinated and unvaccinated people can catch and spread the virus, this is as illogical as vaccination certificate mandates.

How is the 10% unvax’d in Ireland affecting Austria? The story is about Austria.

Even the article is from ABC in the States. No reference to Ireland at all.

But, please carry on there RuilleBuille
