    Nighty, Night…

    “There is a viral disease
Where most infections are mild, asymptomatic
With a very low fatality rate
And large age gradient: kids are even lower risk than adults
And less than 1% of kids have any serious complications at all
    Yup
    Polio
    And we vaccinate against it”

You can get infected with poliovirus if:
You have picked-up minute pieces of feces on your hands, and you touch your mouth.
      or
You put in your mouth objects like toys that are contaminated with feces.

The virus can live in an infected person’s feces for many weeks. It can contaminate food and water in unsanitary conditions.

But – what’s your post to do with a comparison to Covid?

  2. GiggidyGoo

Salzburg is poised to impose a general lockdown as Covid spreads in Austria.
The state, along with neighboring Upper Austria, will apply the restrictions to everyone regardless of inoculation status. The moves come in the wake of national rules affecting unvaccinated people.

But, but, but…… why lockdown the ‘vaccinated’?

Answer the question GiggidyGums. Why did you haul your mad auld derrière to get jabbed not once but twice earlier this year? You were very quick to move in this instance – amusingly. You’re also a mad auld lad of a certain age so it’s quite pertinent to enquire if you’ll be making an effort to get the booster. What value has the vaccine and booster to you and other “agin everything” mad auld lads? Answer.

Typical example of the types I was referring to in my reply to Janet (not posted for some reason). Mad ould dog going round howling at the moon on the internet, going to do the divil and all, he even threatened me here one day ‘we know who you are’, and as soon as there’s one bit of trouble, even one bit, he’d be behind the sofa whimpering and jabbering.

Hospitality industry ‘already getting cancellations after Covid passport decision’

This is no surprise- but like their southern counterparts, that won’t bother the politicians because their income is safe.

One thing different is the inclusion of a negative Lateral Flow Test in the previous 48 hours, which is a much fairer way of doing things. How those results are to be presented is another matter however, as such can be done at home. Still, it’s probably the only measure in this unscientific nonsense which may actually reduce infections.

I posted this yesterday but the story is already taking legs. in Israel- both Vaccinated (3 jabs) and unvaccinated were tested at the airport- and has produced some interesting results.

Green Pass and COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Shots in Israel – A More ‘Realistic’ Empirical Assessment Analyzing the National Airport Data

“The analysis suggests that the relative protection of the booster shot against infection is likely to be significantly smaller than the initial estimates of 10-11-fold (over 90%) reported by the MOH, probably around 60% at best. This also implies that the absolute number of infected individuals in the Vaccinated group is likely to be at least as high as in the Unvaccinated, raising serious concerns that the new Green Pass is inefficient in preventing infection spread, and could expose high risk individuals to risk.”

    1. SOQ

The controversy appears to centre around how effective the booster shots actually are. Government is claiming a score of 11.3 while the researchers are claiming 1.6 and that the booster is waning as fast if not a faster rate than the first two shots.

“In fact, these findings call into question the entire Green Label policy. In the first month it seems that the green mark is dangerous for those who become infected and more contagious, while in the following months the booster hardly prevents infection, certainly not for a long time.”

    2. Cian

      Interesting read.

From it can you tell what percentage of Israel’s population have had either 2 or 3 doses of the vaccine?

      1. SOQ

No but the focus is on 3 jabs vs the rest so I would assume ‘the rest’ includes 2 jabs. That is how Israel is operating these days.

        1. Cian

Your paper (Table 2) lists the number of people 3 doses, 2 doses (where the second dose was in the last 6 months) and 2 doses (where the second dose more that months ago) . It also has the population of Israel.

Can you work out the percentage of people that have had either 2 or 3 doses?

Is that number more or less than the Irish percentage (75.6%); UK (67.6%); Sweden (68.8%); EU (66.5%)?

Fair play to Sharon! Common sense will prevail. You can’t be a woman if you have meat and two veg hanging out in yer pants.
