I watched the excellent “There Will Be Blood” on the TG4 last night

as a consequence however I couldn’t get to sleep, in those circumstances I usually force that by reading something boring like a computer manual but I came here to scan the papers and thought I’d have a skim thru that thing you linked as I don’t usually read stuff in that category, unfortunately it had the opposite of the desired effect : (

wow, it truly is unhinged wordsalad, who reads this crap?

that’s an amazing movie, the visuals are so strong you could watch it with the sound off and still enjoy it

So say you are considering getting jabbed,
can you go straight to shot three or four or do you have to start at the beginning do you think, even of say it’s onto booster six

lol, I bet they’ll try and make it so that you have to have the latest number or you are invalid.
Except isnt the supposed point of the boosters to combat waning over time? So if I just got my 2nd at the same time someone got their 10th, we should be equally valid

      1. Just asking

Nobody has even been offered a fourth so far, and you pair are fearful of your tenth?

As anyone who’s been vaccinated will tell you, the most painful part of the procedure is the taxi fare.

aww look your threat got deleted, pity really, good to see the levels of humanity we are dealing with.

          1. SOQ

And the key word there is ‘reported’ which includes both with and from. Really lazy spin there now.

If you want to go toe to toe with someone like Peter McCullough then at the very least point to what it is he is saying that you disagree with?

Just listening to Sam McConkey on Newstalk with Pat Kenny.

Kenny asked him should we prioritise boosting younger people in an effort to “stop transmission” of Covid as they are the ones spreading it.

McConkey had to explain to Pat in the nicest, most tender, most roundabout way possible that the injections don’t stop transmission. And that we should focus on boosting the at risk age groups.

Kenny just gave him a “hurmmff”

McConkey also told him that natural protection from Omicron (as is being seen in South Africa) probably gives better protection than any vaccine or booster.

Sam will be burned at the stake at 4pm… stay tuned.

      1. SOQ

That is not like McConkey- he is usually cheer leading the hysterics. Has he switched sides or something?

Anyone want to place a bet on when 3 jabs is the passport? My money is on mid January.

he was my doc on the infectious disease ward in Beaumont, I found him to be really down to earth and professional, maybe as the data changes/ becomes more detailed he changes his views

          1. Micko

He has softened over the last while. The last time he was on Primetime he was quite reasonable and measured.

Probably why I haven’t seen him on in a while…

His ISAG membership card and special decoder ring will be revoked soon

          2. goldenbrown

ah I dunno SOQ where you’re getting that impression tbf….last time I caught him being interviewed was in or around summertime and I thought he was fairly sensible

as for PK he’s an opinion jockey don’t forget…he’s got himself in a certain position now with C19 and he’s just carefully curating that…when someone like McConkey there says something eminently sensible that disarms Pat’s message Pat will resort to just emit some nasal noise as opposed to go argue and possibly end up on the wrong side. because PK has to be right or close to being right always, y’know?

      2. bisted

…didn’t hear Sam but he’s been correct so far…when omicron reaches UK levels of infection, which it surely will thanks to Ryanair, Aer Lingus, etc who brought delta last year…it will be too late to vaccinate kids or administer boosters…St Luke has even been infected already a few days after receiving a booster…

      3. Cian

McConkey also told him that natural protection from Omicron (as is being seen in South Africa) probably gives better protection than any vaccine or booster.

        Two issues with this:
        1. Omicron is new, there is no way of knowing if getting it will confer protection from future strains.
        2. he is basically saying: “getting Covid is the best protection to avoid getting Covid” which is nonsense.

        1. SOQ

Plenty of experts now saying that natural immunity is superior Cian. That doesn’t suit the Pharma narrative of course.

        2. GiggidyGoo

I think he’s saying that getting Covid is a better ‘vaccine’ (for want of a better word) than a concoction totally manufactured in a laboratory from non-disease ingredients.

        3. scottser

the state itself is saying you’re not eligible for a booster if you’ve had covid in the past six months but you can get a booster 3 months after your double jab. so post infection immunity is twice as good in my book.

  2. E'Matty

Boosters after 3 months. Class, let’s have a league table and see who can get the most vaccinations in 24 months! That fella in NZ has set a high standard but pretty sure there’s a few on here who’ll give him a run for his money.

  3. Kali

There was a homeless guy in Russia getting paid to pretend to be others and got vaccinated 20 something times before he was caught.

  4. Gearoid

Call me old-fashioned but I’d be quite happy getting a booster shot every six months if it meant I had a 90+% chance of not being hospitalised or dying from Covid.
I really don’t mind showing my vax pass to anyone who wants to see it either.
    And ditto mask-wearing.Not a bother.
I just don’t see any of it as that big a deal.
But then I didn’t give a monkey’s about water charges either.
Frankly it’s just the usual suspects who are not happy unless they’re whingeing about something.
The vast majority of people in this country are not like Bodger.

    1. John Smith

90+% of what, Gearoid? Of the population? Of those who are infected by the virus? Of those who actually develop Covid-19? It is not possible to measure the extent to which the vaccine is reducing the numbers catching the virus or of developing Covid-19 as we are not sure of the actual figures. Positive test results only give an approximation of the figures. We also don’t know what the figures would have been without the vaccine, expecially in view of the virus’s mutations.

If you mean 90+% chance of not being hospitalised/dying if you get the virus, then the figures, even at January, 2021, ie pre-vaccine, were well over 90% of ‘cases’ not being hospitalised – being in ICU or dying being even less likely. This was true overall and, also, for all age groups, apart from the over-80s. This would suggest that you could reach your target of 90+% without having the vaccine at all, unless you are over 80.

Having the vaccine or not, is your own choice, of course, and it’s fine for you if you are not bothered about showing a certificate in order to do normal things or with wearing a face-covering. However, whilst not everyone is like Bodger, neither is everyone like you. A goodly chunk of the population want life to return to normal as quickly as possible and do not like these intrusions on their personal freedoms, even if most of them abide by them to a greater or lesser degree.

      1. Gearoid

I take my vaccine advice from experts not some feller on an internet forum with a degree in bolloxology from the University of Google.
