I was about to comment on a headline, non covid related, fifteen minutes ago. I got interrupted by a knock on my door, two gentlemen from BCC – Belfast City Council -noise control unit? It seems my 1 Watt speaker on Alexa Portal was too much? 80 dbs is okay, at anytime?
Ronnie
My microwave is louder than that. You must have some weird neighbors for that level of complaining and the council should have better things to be doing, like sleeping, instead of knocking on your door at that time
“Another €10,289 was splashed out for a four-night hotel stay for then Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and his six-person entourage at the Fitzpatrick Grand Central Hotel, with the bill dating from September 2019.”
how did Leo and his entourage spend 10 grand at that dump ?
…rooms for the first week in Jan are online this morning at 140 bucks a nite.
It’s begorrah and begob isn’t it though Johnny? Pure shamrockery

January during a pandemic is not the same as September during the UN climate summit before a pandemic.
7 people for 6 nights is 42 nights which makes it €245 per night.
Johnny
Which part of four nights are you struggling with ?
…. Another €10,289 was splashed out for a four-night hotel……
Johnny
….can’t F888ing wait leave and get back, higher education levels and all that, paddies don’t seem understand basic preventive measures,
SOQ
You travelled all the way from New York then bitch about the fact that people aren’t wearing a mask properly? Last person I seen doing that sort of thing was Holohan.
Not that ‘basic preventive measures’ are doing any good in NY of course- infection rates are skyrocketing.
Johnny
It’s really not that far SOQ,espically up front, quite pleasant and they kinda know at customs, when you first, where you sat,so you fly through that, driver outside……
Getting back has me stressed but it’s only a antigen, all travelers on my flight and staff were all fully vaccinated and boosters, with clean PCR tests within 24 hours take off.
It’s more the attitude, again I blame the education system here, most Manhattan residents have at a minimum attended a decent third level uni.
Was outside Dundrum – checking out the new Donnybrook Fare-group young lads were having a go at security, awful amount verbal abuse, town is no better.
Its fairly interesting that every single UK paper headlined with Omnicron’s vast drop in hospitalizations. But not a single Irish paper did…
Nigel
‘Omnicron’s vast drop in hospitalizations.’
That’s not what any of them are leading with. They’re highlighting the decreased RISK of hospitalisation, even though that’s rather offset by the increased infection rate. A 40% drop in risk of hospitaisation and a 50% increase of risk of infection soon catch up with each other.
But the health services are worlds apart SOQ. They do complain about theirs but it is light years ahead of ours

Very interesting that she even mentioned this. Suboptimal (less than the best) side-effects is rather a strange expression when talking about a vaccine or a medication. It would seem to mean side-effects that were not as good as they could be but that they were not, necessarily, bad. We tend to assume side-effects are bad anyway but, of course, they can be good.
However, examples of the use of the expression on the internet and the fact that the speaker was talking about ICU, both lead one to believe that this is an admission that people in the ICU are there because of adverse side-effects from the vaccine. Alternatively or additionally, it could mean that there are people in the ICU who are there for another reason but who also have adverse affects from the vaccine.
It does seem like the comment should have been questioned or elaborated on, preferably at the time the statement was made but better late than never. Will anything more be said, I wonder.

Awesome – thanks Johnny
the joke in NY is that Fitzy has cameras in the rooms, why else would you waste 10 grand there?

I agree with Johnny
The basics of manners and decorum are deficient here across the social divide
All sort of anti Vaccine Mandate and Passport tunes coming out of the UK these days- here is two which are pretty good.

It’s not that interesting
The UK is a different country to Ireland
Perhaps but both are linked via NI and whatever happens there is near guaranteed to happen here.
Some people don’t appear to appreciate the level of traffic between the two jurisdictions, especially since the M1/A1 was completed.
