If he is cutting slabs with an electric saw he should be wearing a mask.
Picture posed by model.
Is it Hilti Klum?
If you’re looking at a stock photo and assuming it’s the tweeter you should be wearing a mask.
Refused to wear PPE, got kicked off site – not sure what the newsworthy story is. Seen it happen to a few lads over the years with PPE, long before there was a pandemic. The photo you have up is actually quite appropriate, as if he had refused to wear a hi-vis or a hard hat or safety googles he would equally would have been kicked off a site.
Cloth facemasks dont help much outside though, and as such arent mandatory PPE on any outdoor building site.
Yeah, but when your foreman tells you wear a mask, you do,or you get fired.
sounds like entitled irish day labor, with little or no skills but over compensates with a big mouth.
Ouch.
Masks while laying blocks? Ha ha what next.
What happens when it rains? Is he supposed to keep wearing a wet mask? – complete BS.
…he won’t be laying blocks in the rain, more like laying in bed,was someone else sent to the shop ?
Could make the same argument with wearing wet gloves, or safety glasses fogging up, for that matter what about the following:
Wearing a high vis while working on plastering an internal room
Wearing a hard hat installing a sink in a bathroom
Wearing safety boots while painting a wall
Not saying it all make sense but the idea behind all of these measures is that they help reduce the risk of illness or injury. Mask help reduce risk spread of Covid.
This has nothing to do with safety on the site which all sign up to in order to get their safe pass- cut the bull.
Following direct instructions is safety 101.
They do a safety course for a reason- they should not need instruction once it has been completed. It not up to an individual site or fore manager to decide what is or is not best safety practice- it is the law.
The guy was right to walk off site- its glaringly obvious what is coming- mandatory vaccinations for all site workers, just like Australia.
From HSA website:
The Safe Pass Health and Safety Awareness Training Programme is to ensure that, over the course of time, all workers in construction will have a basic knowledge of health and safety, and be able to work on-site without being a risk to themselves or others who might be affected by their acts or omissions.
“able to work on-site without being a risk to themselves or others ”
Your ability to spread Covid is a risk to others, the mitigation is following the Covid advice which includes distancing, hand washing and mask wearing.
What field of work are you currently in ?
I’ve dabbled in a bit of construction ……what’s your site safety opinions based on,are there any safety rules were you are working or……can’t find anything suitable again at mo ?
Walk-he was fired or so he claims, which is it?
Its discrimination, nothing more nothing less. This cant go on much longer…
A cousin of mine was forced to wear a mask behind the delhi, his glasses fogged up and he sliced his feckin finger off.
My uncle was forced to wear speedos at the pool in too loose, his hearing aid was switched off and he sliced his nuts off.
You should see the state of the toilets on some of these building sites too
So the guy’s Twitter feed is basically a conspiracy roll consisting of:
[insert public figure] is a paedo
5G switch on an omicron outbreak … coincidence?
Anti mask
Anti vaccine passport
Something something Davos something
I’m sure he’s genuinely been let go, I doubt the conversation was a simple as he’s letting on though.
Bitta Mass Formation Psychosis among the more Batpoopcraycray elements of antivaxx today, going on about the “global switch on” of de 5 gees which will cause all the vaccinated to drop dead. Trufax!!

?
Talk about lame. ROFL.!
Your Brucie obsession coming back to bite you in the bumbum.
If he is mixing cement, cutting slabs or doing anything similar he should be wearing at the very least a dust filter mask even outside (I know its posed by a model in the image above). Basic health and safety in 2021. If the site has a face mask rule then refusing to obey that means you cannot work on that site.
Which part of ‘laying’ blocks are you referring to? A qualified block layer doesn’t mix cement. He lays blocks. Someone else mixes the cement.
….wtf is a ‘qualified block lawyer’ doing on payroll then ?
Like to rephrase that?
No,I find engaging with you a waste my time.
That’s why you engaged then?
We’re you asking whether lawyers were employed as blocklayers, or whether blocklayers could be employees?
Or were you just wasting your, and my, time with a nonsense post?. Under which poster name have you engaged with me?
Inevitably someone is going say I’m baked, which might be true,so no I prefer be left alone.
Im sure you get your wish regularly.
You’d think that,but nah I’m like a magnet for crazy,see above.
Your obviously the minus pole then.
..a friend or two suggested I simply stand outside Bellevue (mental hospital) with a bunch flowers…..to meet the next one:)
I’m not, I am saying IF he had to do stuff like that he would have to wear some sort of dust filter mask as it is, as that would be the law. Nobody argues with it because A) Its a requirement to work on the site and B) you would imagine they do not want a lung full of dust.
IF the site requires a mask to work on stuff that wouldn’t ordinarily need a mask, then them’s the site rules. See point A) above.
Anyway, expect the inevitable GoFundMe from this chap.
The story says he’s a block layer. ‘If’ has no bearing therefore.
OK captain pedantic, deliberately miss the point.
You certainly did.
ok but never in my life seen a seasoned brickie (or his labourer) wearing breathing related PPE to mix up a batch of mortar on a site…or even when using a consaw. outdoors? nah, never. eyes, feet, hands maybe.
I’m not disputing cement ain’t exactly good for your constitution and its surely by the safety pamphlet but just never seen it done outdoors. maybe if working with something very hazardous e.g. asbestos or mixing up some sort of chem fixer. but laying blocks? nah :)
You’re not wrong about never seeing them wear them but in many cases they are supposed to but many just ignore it and work away.
What’s Polish for “wear a mask or work at home”?
The Govt allowed their developer and builder mates to continue largely unhindered throughout the pandemic in comparison to the rest of the community, to keep the money coming into the FFG piggy bank. And guess what industry “employs” the largest cohort of unvaxxed by nationality, busy destroying the community with their hotels and co-living spaces?
ah I’m not really buying it, did this really happen?
anyone who has ever laid a course of blockwork in their lives will understand just how ludicrous an instruction of this nature would be
plus good blocklayers are gold
story just doesn’t calculate for me
….he was fired cause he’s a mickey.
yeah, it doesn’t make sense does it? foreman now has to explain to project manager why blocks aren’t laid, who in turn has to go and contract another blocklayer and explain the delay and inevitable cost increase to the developer. unless the foreman was acting under very specific instruction, he may well be getting his ears chewed off today.
…no foreman is firing qualified subs, mouthy day labor, yeah all day every day,it starts with NO I’m not bleeding wearing a mask,I’m not a slave and on and on and on and on and on,fired boom, next.
The enforcement of these rules is a total djokovic.
Man fired for refusing to do as boss requests, shocker! Man’s Twitter account mentions ”WW3” and ”5G” in first few posts, shocker!
SOQ getting vaccinations in there somehow. SHOCKER
Just for the sake of variation. Anyone who has been on a construction site knows that brickies do not work in isolation. They work closely together in teams. They have minions who bring them mortar and blocks. They are interacting together all day. The requirement for a mask here is not unreasonable
It IS unreasonable if other people working outdoors are not expected to do likewise. It is also a change in terms and conditions of employment which means someone can rightly demand compensation.
How?? I’m sure there’s a part of any contract that says, adherence to sites rules and regulations is a must. With a corresponding sign on site entrance pointing out PPE must be worn…
Yes and those rules and regulations are a legal requirement- not the whim of some CoVid zealot. They are standard across all sites in the country, hence the need for a safe pass to work on them.
Any site that attempts to enforce this stupid nonsense will find themselves running short of skilled tradesmen pretty quick because they can go elsewhere.
aaaaaaaand we’re done with debate so moving on
I am Lrrr, ruler of the planet Omicron Persei 8.
You are hereby conquered! Please line up in order of how much beryllium it takes to kill you!
Beautifully done. Ha.
Same old poo- a couple of dysfunctional cranks with nothing to say under numerous usernames.
Paranoia will kill you. Unless the covid gets you first!
And Queenie, it’s not multiple usernames, it’s just loads, and I mean loads, of people, disagree with you and think you’re a crank.
At least his own son doesn’t think he’s a toe-rag …
Loads.
There is generally a disclaimer on building sites, signs all around – NO Boots?, NO Hat? NO Job!! Anyone who has worked, or visited a building site will be aware. Masks have been common-place, especially people working with concrete dust. That guy? He’s simply fitting the narrative.
