The city centre cycling footage is always great for views of how the city looked 30+ years ago.

ah, dublin smog. remember when cycling down the quays back then was enough to give you lung failure?
good times.
but in terms of substance they were lovely times! and sure if we transported back we’d be all wearing PPE so smog wouldn’t matter, wha :) yes when Dublin didn’t have an arse in its pants yet was 100x times better to live in than the current half-homogenised kiphole ever will be
I have a pretty decent photo montage I did up as a kid of that and other Nissan Classic’s…those CC laps, also Patrick’s Hill and various other locations round the country up in the attic somewhere…lovely clear pics of Kelly, Roche, Earley, Kimmage and loads of top TDF peloton heavy hitters in attendance, if I can separate the photos from the backing sheet they’re glued to I’ll scan them over
(there might be a few shrugs out there but in that era this was a fairly amazing thing that we managed to engineer up) Kelly and Roche were obviously huge winning names and made commercial sense but the Nissan itself was a well thought of European short tour, a great achievement and it’s a bigtime pity it died, govt should have intervened and tried to keep it afloat…imagine what we’d have now
Straight through the red lights per usual.
