Jesus. The way this investigation has been played across the media is desperate.

Just get on with it, and stop leaking crap to journalists. And most of all, respect the poor womans family’s wishes for privacy. Having your tragedy splashed across the papers and taken advantage of by “journalists” in the 100 editorials since published is awful.

The media devour shocking stories like this and put pressure on the Gardai to produce quick results. Police work is slow, patient forensics, knocking on doors and sifting of incoming telephone and email snippets of information. In a small media-saturated society like Ireland things get magnified, both trivial and important.
