Desmond Kinney’s 1974 mosaic mural in Nassau Street, Dublin 2 depicting scenes from Cúchulainn-starred Irish epic, ‘Táin Bó Cuailnge’ (the Cattle Raid of Cooley)
This afternoon.
Peter Smith writes:
Does anybody know what has happened to the mural on Setanta Place? My first time home in a while and I have noticed it has disappeared. Hope it hasn’t suffered the same black bag fate as the one in Irish Life Centre…
Anyone?

I used to sit on the wall and eat lunch there a few times. Always liked it. I loved how Dublin had little side lanes with interesting things. Was a wind tunnel of a place though. Would love to know what happened it also. No way it could be just chucked out. You never know though.
It’s in storage, and will be put up again once the renovation’s complete.
This is good to hear, thanks for the info :-)
I used to kiss a boy there, reflecting the passion of the piece ;)
That explains why Danny Healy Rae looks so haunted.
haha
do you wanna know what’s under the hat …..
A fat brown envelope, I suspect.
Ask Larry Goodman who owns the Setanta Centre and is planning major redevelopment. Expect less public space in line with the Bank of Ireland job.
A word to the wise…
If you’re renting from the bould Larry, bring a measuring tape before you sign the lease.
