Another letter in the Irish Times saying how wonderful the EU is and how more should be taught about the great institution in Irish schools.

And again it’s from an EU-funded official.

I’m all for educating kids about the EU but only if it also tells them the truth about the corruption and lack of accountability instead of the bilge of lies and obfuscation that comes out of Brussels.

        At last.
You’ve been beavering away for weeks missing the target like a drunk darts player.
But finally the law of averages comes good and you eventually hit the bullseye.
Honoured and privileged to be thought of as Dick Emery.
You could have gone with Terry Thomas yonks ago and saved yourself all that bother.
But still – delighted to be a Dick.

        1. Cú Chulainn

Terry Thomas, tragic end, but genuinely funny.. satire at its finest. But where are the Dick’s and Terry’s of today? On BS by all accounts and that is a living tragedy. Unlike the advice to Mrs. Worthington, you must thread the boards and bring your comic genius to the great, paying, unwashed.

Ah god man Charger/Admiral Nelson/Ten Pin Terry etc etc etc. You know all about balanced views.
      Marvelous.

    2. Tinytim

I’d be happy if our kids used the metric system.
You can keep your poxy ounce of gold weighing more than an ounce of butter.

    3. Ronnie

I think you will find that the Irish are near the top of the best educated countries in the Europe

          1. TenPin Terry

Media studies at the University of Used To Be An Agricultural College is not an education.
Especially when there isn’t a single ranked Irish university in the top 100 in the world.
Ireland dropped out of that league at about the same time as Accrington Stanley.
The UK has 4 in the top 10 alone.
            Back of the net.

          2. GiggidyGoo

Terrapin Terry furiously back-pedalling when his own website link shows the percentage of people with tertiary education in Ireland surpasses that of the UK.

            Strike!

            Three strikes today.

Maybe a change of name is required there Charger. You’re suffering these past few weeks. Pip pip.

      1. TenPin Terry

Shouldn’t you be continuing your attack from yesterday on Carrie Johnson for having the temerity to be the wife of the Prime Minister ?
A new low even for you.

        1. GiggidyGoo

Ah did I hit a nerve?
Which attack was that on ‘the hand that rocks the cradle’ then?

Sure Have Inferiority Troubles almost at 100%. Pip pip.

(Shouldn’t you be asking Google to remove you from its search engine – right to be forgotten and all that? Your Charger Salmons contributions are still at No. 1)

    4. lolzy

Does anyone remember what the name of that program in the 80’s early 90’s was, where Irish primary school children’s details were swapped with German/Italian/French/Spanish children and the Irish children were compelled “voluntarily” to correspond in written English ( …for what other language could they correspond in? since Irish children don’t learn European languages in primary school.) with their new pen-pals, to the great benefit of the pen pals on the continent, whose little English learning hearts & minds were uplifted with real hand written letters, In English!

Would we do that nowadays? Swap zoom handles of eight to 13 year olds and compel them to talk to strangers, in English, online? Or is that a totally different thing? Since a letter is not a zoom call.

Too late to teach children about languages and Europe in transition year. too little too late. Euro Quest and Euro guide to your hearts content.

Ukraine about to be invaded by a colossal Russian army and Johnson is apparently standing up to him by sending a couple of hundred troops to…. Poland.

Not that Putin would be paying too much attention to the UK anyway. Does a boot quarrel with an ant, etc etc…

      1. Joe F

You were posting some figures a few days ago about Bozo and Khan about crime.
Any figures on Bozo’s approval ratings old boy?
You are writing a lot on here about him. Bit one sided what you post though.
What do you reckon TenPinTerry/Admiral Nelson/Charger Salmons etc etc etc?

      2. GiggidyGoo

        https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-48993201
        Those well-behaved british soldiers eh?

A quick google search brings up many more, erm, proud moments.

Likewise, a quick google search of ‘Charger Salmons’ brings up the top hit of the ‘spare’, Terrapin Terry.
Strike! No. 1 in a search engine for all the wrong reasons.

  3. Ronnie

Russia are absolutely intent on invading Ukraine. seriously, over history how can they be trusted. You don’t line up 70% of your troops on the border of a country for no reason. If their NATO demands aren’t met, be prepared for full on warfare in the next month.

    1. bisted

…NATO troops and arms are pouring into Ukraine and Baltic states yet the Russians holding exercises within their own border are held as aggressors?

    2. Kali

Your getting this news from the folks that said Iraq had wmds and your asking how can the Russians be trusted?

    3. Trustin Judeau

Yeah, authoritarian Russia shouldnt have put their national borders so close to all these NATO bases!
      Signs of aggression or what?

  4. Slightly Bemused

Sheesh! Yesterday it was duvets. Today it is healthy diets. What won’t kill you?

I am putting the kettle on. I need a cup of tea to handle this!

    1. TenPin Terry

Of the three articles in today’s Irish Times opinion section, two are about the prime minister of the UK and the third is about a UK comedian.
You’d like to think there were things going on in Ireland the IT might have an opinion on.
Get off your knees you gowls.

      1. Joe F

Ah good man Charger/TenPin Terry/Admiral Nelson etc etc. Janey, you have such a long name, even the abriviated one.
Thanks for pointing out this, you are great at pointing out these sort of things, where would we be without you
        Marvelous

      2. Cú Chulainn

See, each of us can manifest our future. No sooner do I suggest you should find a larger audience than an vacancy, opens up for an opinionated, controversial, Irish comedian who likes to push it to extremes. This is your moment Charger.

      3. GiggidyGoo

Sure we love entertainment and pantomimes. Especially ‘The Good Old Days’ type. We find an overflowing well of it with Boris & Co.

  5. The Millie Obnoxious™

Ah, so it’s going to be that kind of a day.

Think I’ll sit this play out. See yiz tomorrow maybe.

      1. Cú Chulainn

Just auld fellas (or small dogs barking) shouting at each other from behind their garden fencing.

          1. TheWhiteWolf

And yet they deem it perfectly OK to allow the eminently racist, misogynistic, most banned bigot back into the tent. What’s that all about?

          2. TheWhiteWolf

For most they’re conspiracy theories, to the tin foil hat aficionados they’re spoilers. ;)

          3. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

back to my tounge twisters so

    ‘ racist, misogynistic …bigot.’
Morning children, today we’ll be playing Woke Bingo.
    Eyes down.
    ” Two fat ladies 88 ”
    Oooooh, he’s body-shaming now.

    1. GiggidyGoo

Not very clever there old boy. Your starter for – ten – pin.

      Strike !!

      You’re welcome. Heh x 3
