Stunning bit of TV! Absolutely stunning! It will be interesting to see how Dee Forbes approaches a Sinn Fein government looking for funding.

I saw most of it.. jaw dropping.. I can see why so many nationalists in the North want nothing to do with the South. The dissonance between what has happened, and is happening on this Island and RTÉ.. there are just no words. There is a long overdue and much needed shake up on the way.

    2. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

that’s exactly what I thought…what’s going to happen to your funding and what happened to being impartial

And it seems that RTÉ rolled out Eddie Hobbs – the reverse Midas – to have a go at the Shinners!

The shark has been well and truly jumped.

  3. GiggidyGoo

Eddie Hobbs? That’s the best Claire Byrne could do? She has as good professional judgement as Hobbs himself obviously.
    Hahahaha.

isn’t it funny though that some just seem to have the knack of rehabilitation?

Hobbs, Yates, Ahern and the like…all regular guests and learned opinionates on this show and that

we even have operational versions like Lowry day to day up on Kildare St.

      like “it” never happened

kinda fascinating and depressing at same time

I’m not a Sinn Fein supporter, but this was incredible. It was more suited to the programming of a tin-pot banana republic.

      1. Sara

No, I never had much respect for RTE because of the censorship of Section 30. But last night’s program didn’t even pretend to be fake neutral. Not that it matters, because this won’t hurt Sinn Fein in the slightest.

caught the ad for this while flicking around….couldn’t believe what I was seeing

if this is the level that RTE & Friends are operating at now just wait till GE time

    LOL

My heart really went out to poor Alison O’Connor having to grow up during D’troubles on the mean streets of… Bantry

€13,000,000 of investor funds spunked and a lone boarded up house worth €7000 at the end of it all.

      The house ALWAYS wins.

  7. ANO

Don’t watch the program but wanted to join the righteous mocking of waddling punchline Eddie Hobbs so, LOL.

Demographics (largely people old enough to remember Jerry McCabe’s murder still being alive) and our history of coalition governments mean that SF might just fall short of taking the reins at next GE but it will happen in the next 10 years.

Voted SF in the last GE.

    1. goldenbrown

      well I’m certainly voting SF
#1 and #2 if there is a second candidate
and strategically the rest to ensure as little transferability risk to FFG as possible
these ***** have no idea what is going on in real life and I want to teach them a well earned lesson and derail a few cronies along the way why not

      1. ANO

Sounds good to me, both FF and FG and now FFFG have had their chances and we need to give someone else a go, I just don’t think the country as a whole is quite there yet.

Would it be crass to laugh at Arkham Asylum escapee Eddie Hobbs again ?

        Who cares!?

        LOL.

          1. ANO

I’ve voted in a lot of elections, for a lot of different candidates and many of them would have been from one of the two big parties.

I’m not a member of a political party.

  8. Trustin Judeau

    Holy moly, Eddie Hobbs.

With socialism, a man has 2 cows, the state takes 1.
Sinn Fein are coming to take your cows.

    1. Shawnee Poole

The Irish Labour Party’s slogan for the 1969 general election was THE SEVENTIES WILL BE SOCIALIST.
Fianna Fail and Fine Gael then campaigned around the country with threat of the farmer having 2 cows and Labour coming to take 1 cow away.
Now its Sinn Fein that are coming to take the 1 cow away according to Eddie Hobbs last night.

That programme reminded me of the attempted stitch up of Gerry Adams on the LLS by Gay Byrne. That was received badly as will that show last night.

An array of right wingers – O’Connor, Power, Hobbs – used as attack dogs.

      1. Jo

Wake up, they are all the same, nothing changes.

Mary Lou has a kid in Gonzaga, the most elite school in the country.

She does not give a “you know what” about you.

        You are all being played.

Well I look forward to the rest in the series – “Reasons not to Vote for FF, FG, Greens, Indies etc” followed by “Reasons to vote for SF, FF, FG, Greens, etc.” because RTE is nothing if not balanced and equanimous, eschewing bandwagons and hysteria, knee-jerk reactionary programming and commentary. Likewise it treats its potential audience as adults. never talking down to people or being patronising. Oh sorry – this is Prime Time, apologies. I thought we were talking RTE Junior ..

Somewhere in the Prime Time ahem “news” room a decision was made that this particular item would represent a fabulous piece of programming. Some of these people may even have journalistic credentials and qualifications which makes a mockery of journalistic credentials and qualifications unless of course you’ve spent a considerable period in your professional life working for the North Korean or Russian State.

I haven’t seen the programme in fairness but if the snappy title isn’t presented as an ironic twist on the actual content then this is really deplorable stuff. It should be to anyone regardless of one’s political allegiances or otherwise (unless of course there’s a similar set to follow where Eddie Hobbs discusses all other political parties).

  11. Ian-oG

    Hilarious stuff.

Hopefully RTE will be forced to do some severe tightening of their belt if SF do get in and hopefully one of the first casualties will be the useless Claire Byrne.

As for Eddie Hobgoblin, why, just why?

  12. SOQ

Hang on- is this the same Eddie Hobbs who has been appearing on The Irish Inquiry lockdown / vaccine sceptic round tables?

Now on the biggest plandemic propaganda mouth piece RTE could offer?

Talk about running with the hare and hunting with the hounds…

    1. ANO

The same Eddie Hobbs from Broadsheet On The Telly ?

I’m starting to think the controlled opposition was all of us, all along.

  13. Hughie Luas

Blonde white middle-class woman gets cushy job stand-up presenting on RTE about how bad a not-blonde white middle-class woman is because when they’re in power it’s the end of the blonde white middle-class woman’s nosebag.

    Tremendous sisters.

    1. SOQ

Yes she is moving with the times- she now identifies as: who me?, dey dem, wee woo and hee haw.

All of which makes as much sense as the other tripe she churns out.

  14. Boe_Jiden

The days of Sinn Fein taking protection money from drug dealers, covering up paedophilia, arranging disappearances of “grasses” are long in the past, the new Sinn Fein will bring free homes, free services, free bins, free education and free healthcare, they are the party of the people and will win the next GE by a landslide

  15. Dave

The desperation is creeping in again from this government and poor ol Claire it backfired the last time and it will the next time

  16. Diddy

The only socialism that was exposed on this show was the governments socialist attitude to landlords. Taxes being raided to pay overpriced rents via HAP. Hobbs and Flynn a disgrace
