The Sunday Excrement is really something trying to talk up talentless tank girl Saint Liz tax pater funded photo op instrgram Trussia. Herself and the poisonous pygmy dwarf Patel are the ultimate witches coven of utterly contemptable vapid self serving Tory bs. They have done the square root of minus one between them to ameliorate this crisis in any way driven by a crass amoral Brexit ultra ideology.

    1. TenPin Terry

Surely if you’re already a pygmy then the added dwarf insult is surplus to requirements ?
Although your casual misogyny suggests to me you’re more likely feeling threatened by powerful and successful women.
      You poor thing.
      Moron indeed.

      1. K.Cavan

Yeah, Terry, Liz Truss certainly makes me feel threatened. WTF, I think, will happen to the West with a moron like that representing us? She’s someone who, despite her best efforts, has fallen well short of mediocrity, throughout her career. She’s failed upwards, because of the same sort of sexist policies that put that utter cretin, Kamala Harris, in a position of power, not that her immediate, male, boss is much better, mind you.

      2. stephen moran

Even by the low bar of de Pfeffel kleptocratic cabal Patel ranks in the relegation zone – possibly just above all day processo Nadine Dorris.- she’s been found guilt of bully and lost in the High Court nearly every time she’s brought a case enforcing her far right immigration policies in an illegal fashion. She’s failed utterly to sort of the channel migrant issue – the Mayor of London had to sack the equally inept Cressida Dick because she’d hadn’t the balls. Apart from that she’s a “very successful career woman” to quote yourself. It’s not misogyny – Dom Rabb – the geography man is another fav of mine and lest we not neglect Sir Gavin – it’s just the uncontrolable trouser snake does surround himself with some seriously incompetent women who do their sex no favours

Well let’s see how you Putin boner tugging toady choads are gonna play today’s tugfest and see who can tug out the most Putin boner snot from the front pages.

I’ll even fluff yer choady toady little nazi Putin boners a little to give youse a semi.

    Shelling evacuees. Justify.

    1. ce

That’s the kind of hippy speak that would get you 15 years, VAIDS, A-Fist-Full-of-Rubles, and two-hours-later-a-wheelbarrow-full-of-rubles in some places…

      1. K.Cavan

Thass royshe, stephen, the US would never do that. When they pounded Iraq into dust, they didn’t mean to kill a million civilians.
They were just “Collateral Damage” right?
When you invent a new, trendy term for mass murder, it makes it All Right, doesn’t it?

    2. jonjoker

      “Shelling evacuees. Justify”

      Indeed.
If true – it’s well known that truth is the first casuality in war.

Yesterday, I was sitting outside a cafe, and heard two lads chatting at the next table – not from Ireland if their accents were anything to go by, and probably from two different countries as they were speaking together in English.

One said “Hey, I don’t hear any news about Covid anymore.”
The second lad replied: “Yeah, it was all Covid, Covid, now it has become War war war”.

Somebody thinks the Irish people are a bit stupid, but if even the immigrants amongst us can see this, I’d say most of the rest of us do too.

      1. paddy apathy

        Recent news is topical.

        Old news is not.

If the immigrants amongst us can see this,
        maybe you should too.

      2. K.Cavan

Hey, jon, people don’t think the Irish people are stupid, they know it, it’s been proven too many times to be in dispute. Every election, for example.
        I rest my case.

    3. K.Cavan

Sorry for your problems, Vlad, you sound like you need some help with your sexual fetish dysphoria.
Your posts are a cry for help.

      1. Vlad X. Novichok

The only crying for help that matters are from murdered and mutilated Ukrainians. But for Toady Choads like you you’ve tugged yourself blind for Putin boner snot.

          1. Vlad X. Novichok

Why on earth would I do that when this one clearly tugs at your Putin boner snot producing plumbs.

    1. Kali

They never bothered with diplomacy in Iraq, shock and awe was the chosen tactic, so not the only way out. It would be a better road to go down though

    2. K.Cavan

Well, the road into this war was certainly through dialogue. Russia spent 15 years trying to hold the US & NATO to its promise not to expand eastwards. Unsuccessfully, I might add.

      1. ce

Remember that time Ukraine gave up it’s nukes for security guarantees… etc…. etc… Stop trying to rationalize slaughter…

    1. SOQ

Putin is a leader of a super power whom has quite a number of conflicts under his belt with a very tight team of experienced advisors.

Zelenskyy on the other hand, is a comic who was ‘elected’ with no political experience at any level, who spends most of his time on social media posing in army camouflage gear.

Who is the amateur again? It is a war he is supposed to be trying to win, not X Factor.

      1. ce

So you’d probably think the elite army might have done a better job of things…

Keep supporting the Billionaire class rather than those ordinary citizens with “zero political experience” who put themselves forward and do something with their life for others…

… and who understand something of the modern world… unlike the “elite” world leader that is Putin…

        1. SOQ

You are assuming things are not going to plan- have you seen the plan? It is very similar to previous so far, according to independent military experts.

As for the ‘common man’ guff- Zelenskyy is estimated to be worth over $100 million with an extensive property portfolio in the US, all since coming to power. Apart from lining his own pocket- that puppet has no clue what to do.

Arming untrained civilians against a war seasoned professional army is ‘doing something for the life of others’ I agree- it is going to kill them in very large numbers.

The first six bio labs Russia hit in Ukraine were all US DOD owned and ran- just think about that for a moment.

          1. Nigel

‘You are assuming things are not going to plan- have you seen the plan’

You are assuming things are going to plan. Have you seen the plan? Is there even a plan? Was bombing a nuclear power station and setting it on fire part of the plan?

          2. Nigel

Russia set the largest nuclear power plant in Europe on fire and Ukrainian firefighters put it out and now Russia is scrambling to get its propaganda out but nobody believes them.

      2. Nigel

You’re so mad at Zelensky for daring to defy his rightful invader and, almost certainly, his probable murderer.

        1. Daisy Chainsaw

You’d think with all that money and stateside property, Zelenskyy would have legged it last month when the Russians were still lying about invading.

          1. SOQ

I doubt if the army neo Nazis would take too kindly to that and, maybe his US masters will not allow him to?

Because if he does, it is all over.

        2. K.Cavan

Zelensky is not defying anyone, Nigel, he’s an actor, following the script & paying attention, like a good actor should, to The Director, Uncle Sam. Any idiot can see he’s an absolute joke, though the journalists who criticised him & subsequently disappeared & the opposition TV stations he shut down aren’t laughing.
He won’t be missed by any Ukrainians, either, his corrupt, thieving government have left Ukrainians with falling living standards, where they have to spend half their wages on heating.
Nobody likes Zelensky, Nigel, certainly not any Ukrainians, he’s vermin. Probably why you like him, ratlicker.

          1. Nigel

Cavan speaks for all Ukrainians and all Russians. They don’t need to speak. Cavan speaks for them. Cavan can’t wait for this guy to get murdered.

      3. paddy apathy

        A superpower Russia is not!
It has an unsophisticated economy the size of Spain’s, dependant on a declining carbon fuel industry.
It has an unsophisticated power structure based on threat and corruption.
It possesses unsophisticated legacy nuclear weapons technology and a dysfunctional military.
        Russia is a ailing dinosaur.
        A dangerous beast.

    2. K.Cavan

Zelensky will, no doubt, meet his maker in the not-too-distant future. I wonder how Satan will welcome him?
The four opposition TV channels he closed down & the numerous “disappeared” journalists in Ukraine won’t be missing him, I reckon.

  3. f_lawless

That Irish Daily Mail front page story “Putin shelling fleeing women and children” stinks to high heavens in my opinion. It doesn’t add up from a strategic point of view. The objective of Russian forces is to overpower Ukrainian forces in the region. Facilitating the evacuation of citizens from those cities makes that objective easier for them. The Ukrainian forces know that Russians are trying to gain the upper hand in a propaganda war by attempting to minimise civilian deaths. Preventing civilians from leaving is in the Ukrainian forces’ strategic interests as cynical as it is. The majority of Volnovakha and half of Mariupol are of Russian ethnicity, by the way.

This is what – shock horror(!) – RT are reporting. Personally I think it’s good to get opposing sides of the story and then make my judgement:

“Both Mariupol and Volnovakha have been surrounded by DPR (Donetsk People’s Republic) forces which, along with Russia’s Ministry of Defense, blame Ukrainian nationalists for not letting civilians to safely leave the cities, that the latter had secured safe passages on humanitarian routes from the two cities.”

We’ve seen this play book before in Syria. Islamic militants were holding civilians to ransom in cities such as Idlib and preventing any of them leaving by firing on attempted humanitarian corridors. But then the story gets spun 180 in western media as Assad/Russian forces firing on civilians.

    1. Vlad X. Novichok

First Putin boner toady choad load of the day. Nice work flawless. Keep it going.

      1. Mad

        Present alternative facts and sources.
F_lawless always backs up their statements with a source. We can then evaluate whether we think that source is credible or not. Yes sometimes I also think f_law is a shill and I call them out on it too.
But this is an interesting alternative perspective.
Try to refute it instead of attacking the commenter, which speaks poorly to your judgement.

        1. ce

“F_lawless always backs up their statements with a source”… which are usually utterly mental…

          1. f_lawless

Article from March 4th by journalist Max Blumental:

            https://thegrayzone.com/2022/03/04/nazis-ukrainian-war-russia/

Title: ‘How Ukraine’s Jewish president Zelensky made peace with neo-Nazi paramilitaries on front lines of war with Russia’

            Quote:

‘According to one Greek resident in Mariupol recently interviewed by a Greek news station, “When you try to leave you run the risk of running into a patrol of the Ukrainian fascists, the Azov Battalion,” he said, adding “they would kill me and are responsible for everything.”..

.. Other video filmed at checkpoints around Mariupol showed Azov fighters shooting and killing civilians attempting to flee.’
            (sources linked to in article)

          2. Nigel

”In each instance, the {specific group of Nazis} comes to personify internationally Hegel’s thymotic, if savage, primitive man — the inhumane antithesis of the “last man” — fighting maniacally against {a reactionary archetype} the march of {the Russian army}, and {whatever the oppoosite of rootlessness, spiritual emptiness, and angst is} itself…Such a melioristic framing of international politics justifies and indeed privileges a {pro-war narrative of denazification}”

          3. ce

            Mic Check… Mic Check…

Ukraine is a messy flawed democracy… anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot

Russia, was an autocratic semi-democracy… now it’s a one-man totalitarian excrement-show… anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot…

Both are sovereign countries…anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot…

Whatever grievances either side had before two weeks ago (never mind Crimea)… Russia launched a full scale invasion of a sovereign countries… anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot…

Russia is attempting to decapitate the Ukrainian government and install a puppet de-militarized state next door… anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot…

The war (getting 15 years in some places for that word) is a mess with propaganda all over the place… thousands of civilian Ukrainians will die, no Russian civilians in the borders of internationally recognized Russia will die, thousands of young men and women fighting for their country in Ukraine will die, thousands of young Russian conscripts will die…anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot…

Despite extensive pre-war negotiation, Putin lied over and over about his intentions, Putin’s ambassodor to Ireland lied live in English on Irish TV over and over about Putin’s intentions… etc… etc…anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot and is disconnected from reality…

The world will engage is various sanctions and recriminations etc… etc.. however, while all this situation can be understood from Putin’s point of view, there is utterly no justification for what Putin has done…anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot…

This will all likely end with an occupied and repressed Ukraine with some manner of insurgency, the fall of Tzar Putin in a Coup, or a Putin-as-Mugabe situation becoming a vassal state of China… which is ironic considering Russia relationship with “The Horde”

…anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot…

          4. f_lawless

            @Nigel
Perhaps that response made more sense in your head than it does now that it’s typed out

            @ce
Suggestion Don’t finish off giving your opinion with “anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot” if you want to encourage open and constructive discourse.

          5. Mad

            What f_lawless said
I won’t be bothered engaging with you again ce- anyone who does is an idiot

          6. ce

“Suggestion Don’t finish off giving your opinion with “anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot” if you want to encourage open and constructive discourse.”

Thanks for the suggestion infor_warless – I should have said “useful idiot”… there’s nothing constructive to be had when you and your like are gazing at your belly button spouting conspiratorial nonsense and defending a tyrant… it’s “Well, Hitler did also build the Autobahn” kind of nonsense… there is no debate to be had until the guns stop firing… and given Putin’s lies in the build up to this war, I’m not holding out for much of a debate after the guns stop firing, but we can hope…

It’s 15 years for this conversation in Russia…

In case you missed it the first time – It’s 15 years for this conversation in Russia… that’s tyranny… may you never have to live under it…

          7. Nigel

Sorry f_lawless, I’m just a rootless cosmopolitan with no religion and angst, I’m doing my best.

          8. SOQ

@ce. It is obvious that the Russians want to install a puppet but what you deliberately ignore is that the current are also a puppet. How else could there be so much US involvement in Ukraine?

The difference is, Russia’s actions are in defence of it’s borders- while the US’s are not. Why so many US DOD owned Bio Labs for example- what were they doing there?

          9. Nigel

‘How else could there be so much US involvement in Ukraine?’

Because Ukraine badly needs international support against Putin’s depredations.

‘Russia’s actions are in defence of it’s own borders’

Ukrainian WMDs. History repeats, only stupider.

            ‘what were they doing there?’

You haven’t offered a single solitary shred of proof that they were developing weapons, neither has Putin for that matter.

        1. jonjoker

He’s clearly a troll. He may or may not be Ukranian (the middle initial makes him look yankee) but he’s not here to add to our understanding, but to subtract.
          Just ignore him.

          1. Vlad X. Novichok

The X is short for Venomous Agent X – another lethal agent and my variant targets Putin Boner snot loving toady Choads.

          2. bisted

…my money was on having an armalite in the other hand…as in MaryLou…same weaponised avatar and even more venomous…

      2. K.Cavan

You’re sex-mad, sad Vlad. You probably prefer decrepit, older men like Biden, right? They don’t fight back, so much.

        1. Vlad X. Novichok

Toady Choad or Useful Idiot? Which one are you?

I see you more as a Toady Choad given the quantity of Putin boner snot you’ve produced since he started killing Ukrainians. You’re clearly enjoying yourself too along with the other Toady Choads delighting in death.

    2. Nigel

‘It doesn’t add up from a strategic point of view.’

      Whoooole load of assumptions there.

‘We’ve seen this play book before in Syria.’

We certainly have. Slaughter civilians then release propaganda absolving themselves of blame and denouncing western propaganda.

      1. Mad

She/He’s quite correct though. She’s presented some great links the past few days in quiet response to the deluge of mindless anti-Russian propaganda that has been quite clearly managed on to the site in the past few weeks – some even from mainstream sources such as George Kennan etc. You could try engaging with the points and refuting the sources rather your usual self-indulgent hand-wavy stuff. And I say that as an admirer.

        1. Nigel

You called me a coruscating fool yesterday! You told me to pee off! Stop gaslighting me, you monster!

I do engage, by the way. When f_lawless responds it’s usually with three or four long paragraphs about what an awful person I am.

          1. bisted

…in fairness, Nigel…you’re not that awful…two paragraphs would have been more than sufficient…

          2. Mad

Haha is making whoopee not working either?
When I tried to get you to disengage yesterday it was because of your reductive sardonic tone – the first ten times it’s ok( but after about 90 times it wears). It’s good that you argue with the guys about COVID and environmentalism, but on the geopolitical stuff you are out of your depth and read like a Guardian reader: ease off on that

          3. Mad

I find most people can make a good point at least some of the time Nigel. It’s better to keep an open mind

          4. Nigel

In this day and age? The age of lies and disinformation warfare? An open mind is the most useless thing on the planet. Even the pro-war commenters here are demanding people close their minds to everything but Russia Today and Zero Hedge and mysterious sources they won’t reveal but are clearly definitive.

          5. Vlad X. Novichok

There are facts, there are – as Mad referred to earlier – alternative facts and there are Toady Choad facts that are *in fact* paid for in Putin boner snot.

          6. Mad

When you say things like an open mind is the most useless thing on the planet Nigel that’s when I realise how little you have to offer to this subject.

    3. goldenbrown

      f_lawless
      let me ask you this
without having the benefit of being physically present to see touch and smell where these events are taking place
is there any news source that you feel you can rely upon for solid information?
if there isn’t an “establishment” source where would you stand on feeds of open source investigation technique e.g. bellingcat?

    4. MacGafraidh

There is a video online is sky journalists being shot at by Russians.

Shortly after.. On the same stretch of road.. It’s where the corridor was agreed and the ceasefire breached.

Earlier, a video surfaces of the captured seniors who explain that there was no plan per Se. They were told to support the freeing of Ukraine from a neo nazi group, head to kyiv. To arrest or shoot Ukrainians in the interim and other than that it was no different than a typical reallocation. All three realise shortly after they’ve been lied to by their superiors and they’re in the midst of a war.

  4. stephen moran

Enlightening history of Ukraine, showing that it needs to be seen as a former colony of Russian imperialism/chauvinism, as even Lenin recognized !

Lenin 1914: “What Ireland was for England, Ukraine has become for Russia: exploited in the extreme, getting nothing in return. The interests of the world proletariat and the Russian proletariat in particular require that the Ukraine regains its state independence.”

    https://newpol.org/the-historical-background-to-putins-invasion-of-ukraine/

    1. K.Cavan

Ah, stephen, really? You’re trying to put some extravagant historical framework around a simple dispute.
Despite their promise to not do so, NATO & the US want to put nuclear missiles as close as possible to Russia’s borders, it gives a strategic geo-political advantage to them.
Russia, having treated the West’s promises as meaningful, do not want missiles close to their borders. It’s not a matter of geopolitical importance to them, however, it’s a matter life & death.
      Simple, isn’t it?

    1. stephen moran

The wicket is as flat as a pancake & Pakistan took far too long to get their runs (2 full days doing a Boycott impersonation) to give them any chance of bowling the Aussie out twice

      Pakistan 476/4d

      Australia 168/1 (45.3)

      1. Mad

        Thanks.
Perhaps the solution to all of this is to bring Russia into the community of cricket playing nations

  5. Birdie

Oh God that image on The Sun… I’m in tears here… that’s just so unbelievably awful. I can’t even image the pain of those parents. Putin you are absolute scum.

    1. E'Matty

Except, you’ve no way of knowing it’s real. Remember the dead Syrian kid pics that turned out to be fakes? Then again, you probably never did find out they were. This is a propaganda war. Pictures of dead babies on the front page of newspapers is propaganda 101. It’s done to evoke the emotions you’re feeling now. The opposite is where our media conceal pictures of dead Afghani or Iraqi babies. It’s all about controlling the populace through their emotions. Our media are in sensationalism overdrive right now.

      1. Nigel

In fairness a LOT of work went in to claiming reports and images from Syria were fake, and the same people are earning their overtime now.

      2. George

You’ve already embarrassed yourself by spreading Russian lies about the photos of the women with facial injuries after her home was destroyed. Given it a rest.

        1. Duncan Wheeler

So, suddenly we’re expected to believe proven serial liars the mainstream media and politicians. You are just gullible believing war mongering nonsense. Putting is dropping milk tray on the Ukraine, sweetie.

          1. George

The war monger is Putin. He is the one who started the war that is happening right now.

As for the rest of your nonsense, try making sense next time.

      3. goldenbrown

        hey E’Matty
the girls over there I was telling you about that use to work for me, remember?

well just to let you know that the girl in Lviv is still alive
but neither she nor I have heard from the other one now since our initial exchange

enjoy your day of deep thinking and speculation!

      4. K.Cavan

In reality, the vast majority of stories in the media are fabrications, they’re not paid to tell the truth, what good would that be, presenting minds dulled by gameshows & soap operas about the complexities of the Real World? Wouldn’t garner likes or votes.
Instead, the MSM reduce it to simplistic morality tales, framing it as black hats v white hats, good guys v bad guys, so simpletons can become emotionally involved, casting aside whatever little bit of critical thinking ability they have, to bask in the self-delusional but comforting knowledge that we’re The Good Guys.
That’s what the media’s role in this is, not informing us about what’s happening, just repeating, over & over, one Big Lie.
        Us, We’re The Good Guys.
        Them, They’re The Bad Guys.
        Repeat, Rinse, Repeat.

    2. jonjoker

I wonder if you remember the fake account that claimed to be from a 7-year-old Syrian girl in Aleppo who used to post in perfect English.

There are whole sections in the CIA and similar organisations working on producing a tsunami of propaganda to fool us.

After two years of pure Covid propaganda, you’d imagine that most people would be able to see through this by now.

      1. K.Cavan

What’s actually happened, Jon, is that the Covid con became a threadbare narrative, as the piles of bodies failed to materialise, so we entered a brand new phase of self-delusional auto-hypnosis.
Deep inside, something stirred, the whole thing became impossible to actually take seriously, anymore. The thought, however, that we were being lied to on an industrial scale, so blatantly, was really too much for fragile, cosseted, minds to endure, so they immediately retreated into their fantasy world, where a Deadly Plague was ravaging the planet. The prisoner preferred the security of the prison cell, to the uncertainties of life beyond their four walls.
Now, the media doesn’t even have to try, luckily, because they’re now the liars who’ve lost track of the truth themselves, having tied themselves up in lies, upon lies, upon lies. The sheep WANT to believe, NEED to believe, so they WILL believe. No matter how ludicrous the fictions they’re presented with, they will believe, they have no choice.

    3. K.Cavan

You’re so right, Bridie. If one of the missiles that the US wants to place on Russia’s borders hit Moscow, millions of men, women & children wouldn’t be instantly incinerated, it would be just Putin. He’s not doing this to save millions of Russians from living under the threat of nuclear annihilation, they’d be unharmed, somehow, he’s only thinking of himself.

    1. Nigel

  6. TenPin Terry

    Strewth.
Nigel is by far the most sensible person on here today.
The lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Coming from a lad that has literal online conversations with himself, I’m sure he’ll find that really heartening

    2. Zaccone

These weekend threads are crazy. More power to Nigel for even attempting to engage with the lunatics who think Putin cluster bombing civilians is justified.

      1. Mad

Who said they think Putin cluster bombing civilians is justified? I certainly didn’t. I’m trying to contextualise his war crimes. Contemplate for a moment that the fog of war is often and usually murky. Be grateful we can live in a country where people can demonstrate alternative viewpoints and ways to make sense of an horrific situation.

It’s possible to disagree completely with the invasion while also being critical of the propaganda and bias coming from our media. Some think it’s only black and white

          1. jonjoker

            Precisely.

Some want us to buy their propaganda instead.
But two years of Covid propaganda has wised a lot of us up.

Particularly the Vaccine and Vaccine Passport shíte.

        2. Zaccone

A number of posters have made posts defending Putin’s invasion as being the fault of NATO expansion, or similar to the invasion of Iraq, or that the civilian deaths are all propaganda, and justifying it as acceptable as a result.

Its pretty disgusting when there are plenty of videos and photos coming out of Ukraine of the damage to civilian apartments and deaths of civilian people. Not even just the reporting in the mainstream media – if someone wants to avoid that.

Putin made the decision to invade. Putin made the decision to kill civilians. We in the West need to take every step possible to help minimise the deaths of innocent Ukrainians. Everything else is whataboutery.

Today sees the removal of all COVID restrictions for arrival into the state.
No vacc certs, test results or passenger locator forms required.
The Government made the move quickly to reduce obstacles for Ukrainians fleeing the war who are expected to arrive into the State in the coming days and weeks.
    The obvious question is why.
Why are regulations designed to protect this country suddenly deemed unecessary when yesterday they were vital.
And if those arriving from Ukraine with its poor vaccination rate are no longer seen as a health threat why then have restrictions been in place for so long for people from countries with far better vax rates.
    It stinks.

    1. Mad

There’s no obvious question about this.
There are no requirements to enter the Uk, our closest neighbour with whom we now share a virtual sea border:
Hopefully Ukrainians flowing will realise they can most easily enter the UK and take up residence there by coming to Poland and then flying here.

    CNN
    CBS News
    Blloomberg
    ABC News
    BBC
    CBC

While the definition of ‘fake’ is somewhat subjective, after the CoVid-19 lockdown and vaccine propaganda, I really do like the idea of some of those deceitful liars doing jail time.

    1. Nigel

‘While the definition of ‘fake’ is somewhat subjective’

      No it isn’t.

‘I really do like the idea of some of those deceitful liars doing jail time.’

      Welp. There it is.

      1. SOQ

Ok so if the Russian authorities jail a western journalist whom they say was ‘intentionally spreading fake news’, you will be perfectly fine with that then? It’s a war time situation ya ejit- truth is always the first causality.

As for the general concept of jail time in relation to the lockdowns and vaccines, I hope and pray that justice will prevail, and that those responsible face jail time- yes, absolutely.

        1. Nigel

‘Ok so if the Russian authorities jail a western journalist whom they say was ‘intentionally spreading fake news’, you will be perfectly fine with that then?’

Uh, no. Remember that comment you wrote way back in the dim and distant before time of 12.17am where you said YOU liked the idea?

‘I hope and pray that justice will prevail’

Of course such jailings would require Putin-style standards of evidence, due process and civil rights, so I can see why you like the guy so much.

        2. K.Cavan

Holy Shit, SOQ, Nigel sure is liking your posts or else he’s cutting & pasting them into his own, to make his posts look more like the thoughts of a sane, rational person who’s not at all mindlessly parroting the narrative fed to him by the MSM.

lol dunno if that’s true or false crazy but at the same time it’s kinda scratching at something I think
Putin has this planned for years, chess moves, he’s at least planned and worked out what he thinks is a check mate situation and others do too e.g. Israelies arbitrating? lol gimme a break they only want to understand how their own skins could be affected here
the only variable now are the rules of the game
Ukrainians do need an out of the box McGuyver move here to change the chess board if his own circle and likes of the FSB still enjoy his company and want him to continue dictating…guerilla/terrorist playbook stuff…a BILLION dollar dead or alive poster…whatever it takes
else he’s going to spend his last 20 years in all our lives trying to redraw that iron curtain and building his empire

    2. K.Cavan

Who do you reckon is the 4D chess buff in the Whitehouse, then, Nigel? Biden or Harris?
I reckon the trigger for the invasion was the first time Putin encountered Biden. He must’ve laughed himself to sleep that night, safe in the knowledge that America’s era as biggest bully in the schoolyard was drawing to its inevitable conclusion. And he didn’t have to lift a finger, they did it to themselves.

      1. Nigel

He’s emboldened NATO and united Europe and his army has gotten stuck so he’s reduced to firing rockets at civilians, and he’s losing the online propaganda war to an ex-comedian who looks more macho than he ever did shirtless an riding a bear while Biden is methodically organising the dismantling of his economy. Mostly he’s just going to kill a lot of people for sweet FA. What a master strategist.

Three hypotheses of how the Russian Ukrainian conflict will end are floating around at the moment.

    1. Total invasion of Ukraine by Russia and the setting up a pro-Russian government.
    2. Peace treaty and return of sovereignty of Ukraine, with a condition of neutrality in policy.
    3. Division of Ukraine on western /eastern lines where the influence of west is NATO, and the east is Russia.

My guess is 2- what do you think?

Feel free to add other hypotheses if you think something has been missed.

    1. Kali

I would assume 1. Isn’t that what was stated essentially when Putin said the denazification of Ukraine. Why invade if you’re not going to go for regime change. It would also have to be anti nato to satisfy Russia

    2. stephen moran

A pyrrhic victory for the Russian which nearly bankrupts them followed by a long drawn out well funded and very well supplied / armed insurgency which has popular support which bleeds Russia dry as they simply don’t have the manpower or the financial resources to sustain an lengthy occupation. The Rand corp. estimated is would have required 1 million+ US military personnel to occupy Iraq and Afghanistan effectively. The Russian army has nowhere near enough men under arms to actively subdue a non compliant Ukraine on an on going basis. It is delusional to think otherwise. This is not going to morph into some passive Vichy statelet. The demographics of Russia is something no one has focused on. They amongst the worst for any developed country – in short the Russians are dying out. The have a TFR below 0. The population ex Covid declined by over a million last year – their dependency ratio is going through the roof. Plus after this debacle there is going to be a major brain drain which they can ill afford. Endgame is akin to the shambles in Afghanistan. On this basis the Russian aggression is as much about trying to sort out demographics as it is a land grab. It is an issue Putin is keenly aware of – hence the restrictions on abortion and focus on families but its been a slow burner (as demographics is by definition) that has been ticking away for 30 years

      1. Nigel

Apparently some horrific percentage of Russian men all DIE DRUNK. Their life expectency is years lower than ours. I know we’re focused on Ukraine right now, but God if only the poor old Russians could catch a break. They’re ground down, exploited, opressed, hungry and neglected. No wonder he had to send mercenaries in to create breakaway parts of Ukraine. But that’s okay Putin’s opposing NATO!

        1. stephen moran

Russia’s GDP per capita is below that of Turkey. This is actually a poor country with massive inequality i.e. the Gini coefficient is off the radar. I believe there is some historical precedent for sorting out crass inequality in Rossiya. If they ever got into ben economically with China they would be overwhelmingly the junior partner. In fact, Russia is far less powerful relative to China than Mussolini’s Italy was relative to Germany. The only thing Russia might have had to offset this imbalance was its reputation for having a highly effective military machine. That reputation has already been lost in the Ukrainian mud. It would be ironic if Putin’s attempt to reestablish the Russian empire ends up turning Russia into a Chinese vassal state. But that’s exactly what will happen if he relies on China to bail him out now as Xi will sense weakness and see a begging bowl and be merciless.

          1. ce

Yep, the Putzar is basically setting up Russia to be a Chinese Vassal State… I bet the Chinese can’t believe their luck… This is Russia’s worst nightmare, if you think the average Russian is not too fond of the West (some are definitely not, some don’t really care), they all have a deep seated terror of the east going way back to the good auld days when they were a Mongol Vassal in pre-Russian Empire days, which and a large reason for the existence of the Russian Empire in the first place… Th Putzar (understandably given the West’s ambiguity for the last couple of years), picked the wrong war, at the wrong time, in the wrong century…

        2. Kali

Some mental gymnastics needed to get ‘high % of alcohol related deaths = invade Ukraine’

Even for yourself, that’s pretty lame

          1. K.Cavan

Was it, Kali? I can’t really muster the energy to read stephen’s bizzare takes & copes, any more.

          2. stephen moran

What I said is that Russia will leave Ukraine with their tail between their legs after going broke after failing to subdue a well funded and armed deadly insurgency due to a lack of manpower – and in the process they may become a vassal state of China due to the massive mismatch in the economies

The demographics are a long term undeniable trend that Russia is acutely aware of and is worsening by the year. When you have more people on the stage than you have in the audience (the dependency ratio) then your country is buggered. Hence Germany’s long term strategic policy of opening up the Turkish and MENA (particularly Iranian) migrant in the ’60’s and 70’s and Merkel policies later.

        3. Mad

Well at least if I may say that’s better than DYING ROARING Nigel- given the foregoing I strongly suspect that may be your own fate, love.

    3. K.Cavan

Number 3, definitely, from the horses mouth. The Azovs, mercenary scum & elements of Ukraine’s army who refuse to demob will be dumped in the western part, where all the arms sent by moronic European governments have been dumped, also.
That will turn into a nightmare on the EU’s border, since they’ll all start fighting each other, with weapons & ammo donated by the Europeans.
      Oh, the irony.

      1. SOQ

Yes it does seem to be attracting the dogs of war from all over the place. Guys being interviewed at the Polish border who have no idea where they are going or what they are going to do when they get there. The US’s dog whistle appears to have been heard all over the place.

I used to assume that mercuries travelled from war to war because of money, but now it appears to be just for the fun of killing people- which is even worse. The irony of talking about freedom while joining up to fight with neo Nazis, is clearly lost on them.

        1. Nigel

          ‘The US’s dog whistle’

          Putin’s war, you mean.

‘The irony of talking about freedom while joining up to fight with neo Nazis, is clearly lost on them.’

At this point you’ve written off the entire population of Ukraine as neo-Nazis.

          1. benblack

            Remember this beauty?

            Yulia Tymoshenko;

“On 11 October 2011, a Ukrainian court sentenced Tymoshenko to seven years in prison after she was found guilty of abusing her office when brokering the 2009 gas deal with Russia. From 5 August 2011 until her release, Tymoshenko was held in custody.”

War is, and always has been, about resources.

          2. SOQ

@benblack I would say more money than just resources. But there is something quite peculiar about Ukraine- it is where the US election server is supposed to be held after all, and then there is Hunter Biden’s interests of course.

@ Nigel- the most prominent battalion of the Ukrainian army are neo Nazis- this is fact. And, if you have bothered watching the documentary above, you would know that Ukraine has a documented history of fascism / Nazism.

That such does not correlate with your corporate sponsored leftism, is neither here nor there. Given that they are have such strong opinions on the subject, I think we should send all known Antifa members in myself- plus BLM obviously.

          3. Nigel

‘it is where the US election server is supposed to be held’

The US has one election server, and it’s in Ukraine. It’s over there next to the bioweapons and Hunter Biden’s laptop.

No-one is denying there’s a Nazi battallion, they’re just denying that it’s either a good reason to invade, or the actual reason for the invasion.

And of course you want to send antifa and BLM to die in a warzone – eliminate those pesky pests who aren’t sufficently pro-war enough for your liking.

          4. SOQ

Yes please- send all Antifa over to Ukraine. They are such dedicated little anti fascist warriors are they not?

Get their mammies to pack them a lunch and off they go- sure they’ll be home by tea time.

    1. jonjoker

Interesting compilation. Well worth watching, clearly demonstrates how propaganda is being used in this war.

Information can confuse the permanently hypnotized, Gerry, leave Nigel to his propaganda. Ukraine on Fire (2016)

From IMDB- Ukraine. Across its eastern border is Russia and to its west-Europe. For centuries, it has been at the center of a tug-of-war between powers seeking to control its rich lands and access to the Black Sea. 2014’s Maidan Massacre triggered a bloody uprising that ousted president Viktor Yanukovych and painted Russia as the perpetrator by Western media. But was it?

“Ukraine on Fire” by Igor Lopatonok provides a historical perspective for the deep divisions in the region which lead to the 2004 Orange Revolution, 2014 uprisings, and the violent overthrow of democratically elected Yanukovych. Covered by Western media as a people’s revolution, it was in fact a coup d’état scripted and staged by nationalist groups and the U.S. State Department. Investigative journalist Robert Parry reveals how U.S.-funded political NGOs and media companies have emerged since the 80s replacing the CIA in promoting America’s geopolitical agenda abroad.

Uh, everyne should take a gander at the headline on the Business Post. As soon as Putin crossed the border, global food shortages became a near-certainty. So over-reliance on fossil fuels and lack of food security is comng round to give us a good kicking, and this is only the start of the anthropocene.

    1. K.Cavan

I love hearing you parrot the nonsense of idiots, Nigel, puts it all in perspective.
“over-reliance on fossil fuels” That’s a zinger. Have you ever thought exactly what that phrase means? What do we rely on fossil fuels for Nigel? Why do we rely on them? Why is it “over-reliance”, what do you suggest we should rely on, instead? Dying by the millions from cold & starvation?
Don’t even dare start up with that nonsense about Clean Energy, Green Energy or any of that schoolchild idiocy, that’s just more empty sloganeering from the same source.
TINA to fossil fuels, substituting windmills & solar power has progressed at breakneck speed, creating a landfill tsunami of non-recyclable compound plastics, yet it’s made little difference. Why?
Because they cannot ever provide Capitalism with enough cheap energy to allow Gates, Soros, et al to build up the number of zeros on their bank balances that they need so badly.
And yet, and yet, these same oligarchs push Green Energy, ever think that’s kind of weird, Nigel?
      Ever think?

      1. Nigel

‘Dying by the millions from cold & starvation?’

Fewer wars, cheaper power, less pollution – terrifying.

‘Because they cannot ever provide Capitalism with enough cheap energy to allow Gates, Soros, et al to build up the number of zeros on their bank balances that they need so badly.’

Filthy rich filthy fossil fuel people are a major blockage, yes

‘And yet, and yet, these same oligarchs push Green Energy, ever think that’s kind of weird, Nigel?’

Not really. It doesn’t change the fact that we need to end fossil fuel dependency.

Places like India, seemingly with no dog in the fight, have long-held resentments towards the Great & Good USA that we don’t know about or comprehend & they are far more understanding of Russia’s stance, also being large countries that have suffered ill-treatment at the hands of Uncle Sam, while being carefully courted by Russia.
To be honest, it’s only the USA’s little lap-dog vassal states in Europe & the fascists in Australia & New Zealand that are taking the current line seen in our media. The World is turning it’s back on the USA, it’s culture is vile & degenerate, in the eyes of decent human beings & if it ever had the moral authority to kill & destroy that it seems to have granted itself, it’s long evaporated in decay & dissolution.
We’re on our own, in nailing our flag to the mast of a sinking ship. Europe better wake up to this reality, very soon, before it’s too late.
Uncle Sam is a creepy paedophile.

Biden said “Putin may circle Kiev with tanks but he will never gain the hearts and souls of the Iranian people.”- probably because so few of them live in Ukraine I expect.

He now thinks that Putin may invade Russia. He will respond by threating to invade the US I expect.- out of 330 million people, this is the best they could do? The man should be in a home.

He’s weak- and Putin knows it.

Yeh I’ve always felt that conspiracy theories are how idiots get to feel like intellectuals for about 5 minutes and that they are primarily a way for mainly men to appear in the know, to harness their collective spurious assumptions. cognitive biases, crass generalizations, straw men and fallacious inferences to say, effectively: ah, the wool may have been pulled over your eyes, but not me mate

Problem is, conspiracy theorists have an annoying habit of being right.

          Masks don’t work
          Lockdowns don’t work
          Vaccines don’t work
          Passports don’t work
          Vaccines damage immune systems

The only difference is that now “Russia bad, Ukraine good” has replaced “You want to kill granny”- but we are still being lied to, in the very same manner.

None of the above are conspiracy theories. They are just uninformed opinions of contrarian cranks like yourself.

FIFY Jungleman, and verification is just a click away, when your Mum lets you have her phone again.
Cop yourself on; your statement above is easy to substantiate.
And I am guessing you mean “Vax Passports” ? As most grown ups travel with passports, and maybe one day you will too, if you ever leave home, it stands to reason they work.
