HerrmanZaGerman should know the answer to that. The media has decided that one war is worthy, and the other is not. Even after two years of bare faced lies about Covid, most people will still assume they are being told the truth- it really is that bad.

As of right now rt.com is now unavailable in Ireland. Can’t have people being exposed to the wrong sort of propaganda. Shame I quite liked their views. Soft opression.

Absolutely agree with that point, Saudi Arapia is a horror show, not a state where women, gay men, Shia’s and basically anyone who doesn’t fit heir narrow, racist, sectarian view of what is proper are literally hacked into pieces if the state decides to and nobody can do anything about it.

Why don’t we care about the Saudi’s and Yemen?

Coz it hasn’t got the possibility to cause WW3

If it doesn’t potentially effect us, we don’t care.

Same as when people were falling over from Covid in China. But Charlie Brooker said it best

“Didn’t know France was in China” ;-)

one war is sending millions of refugees into Europe the other is not…. That and the fact that cutting off oil from the middle east would be catastrophic

Yes, deparvity is a horrible condition. Vaseline helps, oh no that comes from pertochemicals …

Hermann’s maybe a little late to the show as those questions were being asked by many well before Putin decided to get his war on.

You would hope that the brutal invasion of Ukraine will force the West to face up to our tolerance of the intolerable in pursuit of money and energy. No, it shouldn’t take atrocities on our doorstep to provoke change but we have them to go with all the rest now, too.

Sportswashing feels like if should be more actionable in the shorter term than grander aspirations like moving on from fossil fuels but the upcoming World Cup in Qatar will probably prove that hope false.

A brutal invasion- actually no, it is quite civilised in comparison, especially to the US ones.

“Aughinish Alumina, the Russian-owned Limerick refinery, was suspended from a key European greenhouse gas trading platform – despite the Taoiseach saying it was not impacted by sanctions.”

I actually have an awful urge to watch/ binge The X Files, simpler times

One of my favourite lines from The X-Files is when Mulder finds himself in the middle of nowhere in the house of a Scientist who studies beetles (I’ve no recollection of anything else from the episode). Of course there’s a frisson, a spark of sexual chemistry in the air as they talk and Mulder asks her why she likes beetles so much.

“Cos they eat, defecate and procreate and don’t kind themselves about the bullshit in-between” (or something like that).

Deport Roman and his fellow billionaires back to Russia, cancel visas and don’t let them enter any EU countries. Being a Russian billionaire in Russia will be much less fun than being a Russian billionaire in London or Monaco.
