Giving our gas away to Shell doesn’t look so smart now. Still, a good move to announce the price rise while the boyos are scattered to the four corners.

And the price of oil and gas just dropped
All oil and gas is still flowing from Russia and this is just price gouging
But of course as it’s going on the government can distract by droning on about a war with Russia blaming that
Fact is production of gas and oil was severely curtailed during covid but not ramped back up when lock downs were eased
They only slightly increased production creating shortages and of course the producers now are getting massive profits on their produce
Europe depends on 40% of its supplies from Russia and we could easily get oil from Venezuela the country with the biggest oil reserves in the world that would supply what’s needed to totally replace Russia
There are also massive quantities of oil and gas discovered I. The eastern med which for some reason the EU are reluctant to develop in the Greek fields that could supply all Europe’s needs

Those robbing, thieving bastards. I was with them til just last month, as they’ve raised prices three times over the past 12 months.

    Good riddance to them. Fuppers.

Heat pumps Ryan is on cloud cooko land as we all freeze in our homes
We have reserves of turf and turf powered power stations that I assume could be recommissioned during this emergency
But we lack the will and have the greens who think we can all get on our bikes and magically install heat pumps and solar panels when in reality we do not even have the manpower to install them let alone the supply of them

And the Government will come along
    Any day now
With a taxpayer funded dig out
(To ensure Utility Companies collect the charges they demand from householders btw.)
And make it look like they’re taking care of households.
Put spin under it, pick up a few poll points and nice news coverage.

Rather than actually tackle the Utility Companies

    Suckers!

Frilly…………. I have been saying it for weeks; “What the heck is wrong with ESB that the government should indirectly bail them out for circa €200 per customer account”

In the meantime….. Eamonn Ryan and the gang “are aware of the price hike”; so Eamonn will again probably tells us to slow our cars down and maybe put a sweater and coat on when going about the house to reduce the consumption of gas and electric.

I have no idea how we will manage a 39% price increase, let alone others………

      Been saying it for years.

Like look at the old household package
Pretending they were helping families make ends meet
When it was just a way to get money into RTÉ on the quiet

Like why not report the full sum of telly licenses paid by Social Welfare
      As income from Social Welfare
And not buried into one total value opposite Licence Fee Income

      See what I mean?
      Loads of examples

        + VAT

But, and I’m sick of saying this myself
There should be no VAT on domestic Utility bills

        Likewise
No stamp duty on PPRs (with a cap of 10 yrs prorated)

Government can do all that with a pen btw.

Well, the insanity of destroying the economy just to get a digital ID/Social Credit system installed & a toxicity-induced modest long-term decrease in population & fertility among Europeans & Americans, combined with the fallout from NATO/US imperialism, all comes home to roost together.
This is just the start, increased energy prices mean price rises across the board & in Ireland, that means price gouging, across the board.
Blaming the utility companies is, I believe, mostly pointless, wholesale energy prices will skyrocket because the West is determined to use us as virtual cannon fodder in its ongoing Cold War with the USSR, eh, Soviet Union, aah, Russia, as that idiot Ryan described it the other day, while the quixotic attempt to reduce carbon continues its inexorable reduction of living standards & human rights in the West, the only regions treating that nonsense seriously.
Economically, this won’t mean a Recession, it will mean a full-blown Depression.
The Cold War becomes ever colder. For us.

‘Well, the insanity of destroying the economy just to get a digital ID/Social Credit system installed & a toxicity-induced modest long-term decrease in population & fertility among Europeans & Americans’

You sure you got it all in there, like the whole context? Before you moved to energy/ cold war….

    Jesus.

“We need a program of psychosurgery for political control of our society. The purpose is physical control of the mind. Everyone who deviates from the given norm can be surgically mutilated… The individual may think that the most important reality is his own existence, but this is only his personal point of view. This lacks historical perspective. Man does not have the right to develop his own mind. This kind of liberal orientation has great appeal. We must electronically control the brain. Someday armies and generals will be controlled by electric stimulation of the brain.”

Never mind we have Leo Simon and mehole giants among leprechauns on the UN Security Council
Get ready for massive troop movements from the states flying through Shannon airport
I suppose if there is war Russia might just look at Ireland as a legitimate target
