I find Patricks day in Dublin to be quite surreal. Thousands of rich American tourists all walking around looking at each other, and getting fleeced by the pubs of course.
And then as it gets dark, the scangers arrive into town. The Guards really do earn their money on the 17th night because there is guaranteed to be stuff kicking off all over the place.
I really enjoy it, everywhere’s packed out the door of course but the mood tends to be festive rather than furious even as the night wears on.
Always good drunken chat to be had with people from all over the world and it’s the one day where we can go full Oirish guilt free!
Some lost time to be made up for after the Covid years too so expecting tomorrow to be a cracker!
Yes- post Covid could go either way. Good natured party vibe or more of the same.
Have a good one.
Who he?
Probably best known for some of his comedy films with Will Ferrell though that’s doing his career a disservice.
Tis a bit but whenever I see him I immediately think “Stepbrothers!”
A while ago now but I enjoyed his turn in PTA’s “Magnolia.”
My first experience with him was in the movie Chicago, which he was very good in, though it was a relatively small role. He performs the song ‘Mr Cellophane’ and it’s one of the more memorable songs in the movie because of how unshowy it is in comparison with the rest of the movie.
Loved that movie and he really did the part justice.
