Putin and patchouli… a match have in heaven…

I hope the coup come soon, seriously brutal death and injury count, such a moronic waste of life…

It’s fixed. Football is fixed. The Italians were not on the list to win this year and with that decided why would they want to go to Qatar ? It’s not like it’s going to be any fun. Football is entertainment. Enjoy it for what it is. Like wrestling.

    3. TenPin Terry

Why don’t they appeal to become the 33rd team ?
Although to be honest FIFA are still laughing their nuts off from the time some obscure footballing country tried that lark.
      Morto.

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/mar/24/france-opens-inquiry-into-alleged-torture-by-interpols-emirati-head

“French anti-terror prosecutors have opened a preliminary inquiry into torture and acts of barbarism allegedly committed by Emirati general Ahmed Nasser al-Raisi, according to judicial sources.. Raisi in November became president of Interpol. The inquiry follows a legal complaint by an NGO that accused Raisi of being responsible in his role as high-ranking official at the United Arab Emirates interior ministry for the torture of an opposition figure…”

Meanwhile on the other side of the pond – news of the former grifter in chief – Donnie the serial loser

CBS News and The Washington Post have obtained copies of numerous texts between Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ wife, Ginni Thomas, and Pres. Trump’s White House chief of staff Mark Meadows about efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

      Well
It amazes me why people do not send a message to P&O by boycotting their cruise ships
That will send a message to them
Let’s face it Russian pianists are being banned because they are Russian Russian classics banned because they are Russian but P&O a trademark and I am sure the ferries are associated with the cruise liners in some way in shareholding should be sent a message that sacking 800 in such a manner has implications

Are Charles and Camilla going to be on the Late Late Show with Imelda May?

Their visit to the South East needs more coverage.

    1. stephen moran

Most likely tucked up in bed in the Duke of Devonshire’s bolthole aka Lismore Castle ?

    2. Cato

Hughie, you’re definitely not another pathetic ghost identity attempt by John Ryan to make this seem like a normal place, and John Ryan is definitely just a normal person and not a sociopathic, multi-personality weirdo. Definitely.

You must be one of Nick’s usernames so.
I sometimes think I’m one of only a handful of real people who come on here, along with Millie, Janet and Vanessa etc. while the rest of ye are actually the deranged scribblings of a weird contest between bodger and nick, loosely based around ‘the one who invents the least dislikeable character has to go to the shops for milk’.

        1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

pinches one self, just spent a fun ten minutes listing who I think is real in my head, the times we live in.

          1. SOQ

Well there is no doubt but there is one or more individuals who are operating under various usernames, but one has to wonder why?

It would suggest if not mental illness then certainly some sort of personality disorder to be thinking in the 3rd- 4th – 5th person all the time, otherwise why bother?

Either way, it is harming the site and stifling real conversations which is a shame, because Broadsheet has the potential to be quite a force in Irish online media- or maybe that is the point of all this persona swapping?

          2. jungleman

            @soq

Yourself and kcavan are the most harmful presence on this site. People like you are harmful to society in general.

It was v amusing the other day to see Olga ‘s username flash up briefly on the Recent Comments list, before being replaced by Bodger ‘s.

Like old times! Tricky to keep those multiple logins straight

        1. bisted

…missed that…maybe her purpleness is back doing a few shifts or consulting moderator…would explain why a few of my comments went missing…

        2. John Ryan

The only accounts from Broadsheet in the comments are from Bodger and Nick in their names only. All other comments have outside IPs and nothing to do with us. Ask them yourselves. When you see another name flash up, that’s when I have usually signed in using a different device having forgotten my own password (a multiple personality issue). Olga is now with the Irish Council for Civil Liberties.

          1. Commenter #1

Could easily have been a glitch! But if Bodger wants to chase it up, it was their comment in response to a Ten Pin Terrie gag yesterday. For whatever reason, it showed as an Olga Cronin effort in the Recent Comments list briefly, before changing to Bodger.

            A glitch in the Matrix…

EDIT: lol it happened again. Might be worth clearing some cookies, John

      Latin and money laundering

Well, half of that is useful when daddy’s name gets you a number in the city eh?

Speaking of the city of London- I wonder how much the Russian laundry service has been impacted by UK sanctions? Probably not a lot- if at all.

      1. GiggidyGoo

The only on on their knees are the current and future His and Her majesties.
Maybe the UK will do a trade deal with them once it’s happened.

        1. GiggidyGoo

          In numbers? How many? 150?
          Curiosity.
Notice the Irish flags? The Ukrainian flags. No Union Jacks.
A reminder to the Master and his Mount that the UK ain’t welcome.

    All the world’s a stage,
    And all the men and women merely players;
    They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first the infant,
    Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms;
And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
    Made to his mistress’ eyebrow.

That is as far as he got, so he just stood uneasily, like a gate crasher at a wedding and the plonker he is, draped in a suit he slept in, pondering the ultimate question, “when does the free bar open, and do they have sausage rolls?”

    1. Duncan Wheeler

Trrudeau is the ‘mock’ (sic)i n any democracy. The stealing of doners donations for the truckers is a criminal act,
except it isn’t when emergency laws are conveniently enacted. He even went after the doners by freezing their bank accounts. In the US they are going after doners as well. Land of the free, not for much longer.

  5. SOQ

I know little about Paul Joseph Watson. According to Wiki, he is a far-right YouTuber, radio host and conspiracy theorist- Russel Brand with a decent haircut so. This far-right conspiracy theorist parish is getting so crowded these days, if the rents keeps going up- I don’t think I will be able to afford to live in it much longer.

Here is Paul having a humorous look at the ‘volunteers’ who headed off to Ukraine- and are now bleating about how they were treated. These clowns are so inexperienced they would need the word ‘enemy’ on the jackets of the other side to even know which way to shoot- after they learned HOW to shoot of course.

Maajid Nawaz destroys media narrative around Zelensky

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjQcgfi8gsc

Zelensky was named in the Panama papers? Never knew that.

IMO Maajid is one of the most astute British commentators around. His Joe Rogan interview- especially the part about his time in the Egyptian prisons and involvement with Islamism- is really worth a watch.

    What two months do
My passport ran out two months ago and I renewed it on line on a Thursday
On the following Monday it was in my post box
Seems now Ukraine is at war the whole world falls apart
First covid and suddenly no one can find workers now Ukraine and no one can find workers or even heat our homes
Let’s face it mainland Europe is dependent on Russian oil and gas and to even change that the war will be well over by the time they build one new gas facility to hold gas from the USA to hold it

    1. Duncan Wheeler

Brave, brave Bernie the multi millionaire socialist. I wonder how stealing all these Russians’ stuff will play in the US treasuries market where China is the biggest foreign holder of paper. If they can steal Ghadaffis’ and the Russians’ gold, what’s to stop them sanctioning China when their support of Russia becomes more obvious.

      1. stephen moran

Russia sold their UST’s back in 2018 and China has to hold them or else vendor financing doesn’t work i.e. they recycle their excess $ back into US securities to keep interest rates lower then they otherwise would be so Hank and Sue have more disposable income to buy their stuff at Walmart. Same goes for Saudi petro dollars. Literally what comes around goes around – that how it works.

      2. James

Fact is Bernie is correct no billionaire was put on PUP and fortunes were Made
        Fact is money
        Makes money

    2. James

      Always respected Bernie
He should be president honestly a one time windfall tax needs to be levied on all these billionaires and sag and oil companies that have raked in eye watering profits due directly with the speculation of fear shortages etc
There is no shortages of gas or oil just a slowdown in
Production during the pandemic and so far there has been no cut off of gas or oil from Russia but a massive increase in the prices
Those involved in the tools of death are also making billions as the poor gob shite dose the dying and business rips off the population
And if WW3 starts these individuals will be safe in their
      bunkers

It’s time the elite were mage cough up for the windfall wars bring

Cograts to Julian Assange and Stella Moris on getting married inside a high security prison. The real warrior against the evil ones who is cancelled in almost all media. The man with no rights whatsoever. Blighty indeed.

EU-US gas deal to leave Ireland out in the cold

    https://www.independent.ie/business/world/eu-us-gas-deal-to-leave-ireland-out-in-the-cold-41486435.html

“…Ireland gets most of its gas supplies from the UK and the rest from the Corrib gas field, which is set to run out in less than a decade. There are no LNG terminals in Ireland to receive shipped gas, and the Government has frozen plans to build any. Planning permission for a terminal on the Shannon Estuary backed by US firm New Fortress Energy has been delayed…”

Stellar win by the Aussies in the cricket away to Pakistan in the first test match player there for twenty years. Gave them a very sporting run chase with lots of time left which looked far too generous at the close yesterday but they ended up easy winners.

Canada: Key Conservative says party risks takeover by far-right ‘lunatics’

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/mar/25/canada-alberta-premier-jason-kenney-conservatives-warning

“Alberta’s premier has called fellow Conservatives “lunatics” who are “trying to take over the asylum” as a populist mutiny in his party foreshadows a bitter fight for the future of Canada’s Conservative movement. In a leaked recording of a meeting with caucus staff on Tuesday, Premier Jason Kenney warned a far-right element – skeptical of coronavirus measures and wedded to conspiracy theories – could seize control of the party in the coming weeks as the United Conservatives hold a leadership review.

“I will not let this mainstream conservative party become an agent for extreme, hateful, intolerant, bigoted and crazy views. Sorry to be so blunt with you but you need to understand what the stakes are here,” he said, before alluding to the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory with a warning that “people who think I am involved in a global conspiracy to traffic children” would show up to vote for his removal…”
