That your professional opinion Shit For Brains? Can I just call you Shit, from now on? Now that we’re friends, like & I’ve read some of your comments, it just seems appropriate & cosy.

I like to keep it simple so you can understand . This is BS after all.. where I got into trouble for dissing MCDonalds

Wow, you guys have some of the sharpest repartee, you could easily defeat Oscar Wilde in a slanging match.
Mostly because he is dead for quite a long time.

  1. in active

Wiki says: In 2020, he was voted the Eurosport Best Premier League Player of All Time, ahead of many world-renowned Premier League footballers, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry.

    1. K. Cavan

Sounds like Fake News to me, in active. I’m not sure he ever played football, if he’s going around with wild opinions of his own. Footie lads are usually quite dim.

  2. Fergalito

He said he stepped away? How is that being cancelled?

Or was he given a chance to step away before being pushed?

If so why doesn’t the “free thinking legend” say so?

How is he defending the truth? As part of the din and bluster and noise on social media where people simply dig in hard on their views, are not open to debate or the possibility they might be wrong and have to change their minds? Seriously – social media when it comes to politics and political discussion is a sandbox, tying people up in a groundhog day type existence where the same back and forth takes place day after day after day making little or no difference other than to fuel the sense of indignant righteousness felt by posters. That and allowing nefarious actors to stupefy with dud science, creating online artifice after artifice giving completely ridiculous and bat-poo crazy “ideas” the veneer of respectability and truth and making true the adage “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.”

To completely take W.B. Yeats out of context:- “Had they but courage equal to desire?”

    1. K. Cavan

Calm down, Fergalito. Relax by looking up the word “ironic” in a dictionary. Next try, “iconic”. Actually read the whole thing. Then you can return to social media with a solid argument as to why neither you nor anyone else should be spending time on social media.
If a van with the logo of Facebook or Twitter pulls up outside your tent, exit by the back flap.

  3. SOQ

It’s very interesting how the sides this time are panning out- people like Maajid Nawaz and Winter Oak were both very anti censorship / freedom of speech during the last propaganda wave. Because of his time with the Islamists, I find Maajid very insightful and could listen to him all day.

The accusations of ‘far right’ are much less this time around because it is a much more obvious left wing position to hold, as championed by our own Claire Daly. Even on here I am finding more common ground with some people than last- which is perfectly fine because we are all individuals. Having a point of view means you are coming from a point after all.

One thing some may miss is there is actually two wars going on- an information war and a real war- and sometimes those two are not in sync. Personally I tend to focus more on the information war because I wouldn’t trust the legacy media as far as I could throw them.

    1. Cian

It is officially called the information “special military invasion”… didn’t you get the memo?

    2. K. Cavan

Well, SOQ, many of our institutions cashed out their credibility by spewing out nonsense during the fake pandemic. With no chance to re-establish themselves, they’ve now been tasked, by their Oligarch owners, to sell the War Stories Comicbook to their bovine consumers.
Recent polls are indicating that the media, along with the majority of our public & private institutions have lost the confidence of large numbers of the public, some are at levels of distrust never before experienced.
Luckily, for those institutions, the mask is now being removed & all these various bodies who are vitally important in a Democracy will no longer be required.

  4. Nilbert

‘my views are my own’ – in other words, my views are those of the Russian propagandists, right-wing Americans colloaborators, Quanon, and internet trolls who have taken advantage of my gullbility.

    1. jonjoe

I’ve often read stupid comments on the internet, but of all the really, really stupid ones Nilbert, your latest takes the biscuit.

FWIW, I do not accept Russian propaganda (as though that were the only propaganda around), I disagree with “rightwing American coll’o’borators” and ‘Quanon’ and internet trolls who “have taken advantage of my gullibility”, as well as those of them who have not managed to take advantage of me.

My views are my own, although like most people I share some of my views with other people, not always the same people. That said, Noam Chomsky would – often – be a touchstone; I’d hazard a guess that you disagree with most of what he has to say too.

      1. K. Cavan

Truth be told, jonjoe, I reckon Nilbert is trying to remember who Chomsky played for. Y’know?

        1. K. Cavan

Truth be told, jonjoe, I reckon Nilbert is now trying to remember who Chomsky played for. Y’know?

      2. K. Cavan

It is spectacularly dumb, jonjoe, right up there. He might as well have just stated his IQ.

    2. K. Cavan

Ah Nilbert, we lost the cure for cancer the day you decided not to enter medicine.
Also, you ended up with a lot more spare time to spread your own slurry supply on social media.
Two wrongs, however, don’t make a right.
Who exactly do you reckon are these “Russian propagandists”? Where do those “right-wing Americans colloaborators” do their collaborating & with whom do they collaborate? What is Quanon? Quite what “internet trolls” have to do with the rest of it, frankly, I don’t think anyone knows or cares.
I must thank you for restoring my personal Sense of Wonder, though.
I know, you’re going to tell me it’s not my personal Sense of Wonder.

  5. scottser

southampton fc want to distance themselves from his views – it’s not a big deal. why is this being made into something it’s not?

    1. SOQ

Did he jump or was he shoved?

That is one which takes a bit of digging when interviewing.

        1. K. Cavan

See, Tom J, that comment would get you banned from Twitter, for “suicidal ideation”. Still, it’s one of your best.

          1. Tom J

            @ K. Cavan.
I’m not on twitter so I don’t have to concern myself with that, and I’m half banned from Broadsheet as I’m not allowed post a lot of things I have to say.

      1. scottser

        who cares? seriously?
the football club obviously doesn’t want him speaking for them and he concurred. his position is perfectly clear, why are you making it something it’s not?

        1. K. Cavan

Clearly, scottser, you care. You’ve made two comments, pretty much saying the same thing. Consistency, it’s much under-rated.

  6. Horsethieving Dopesniffer

War crimes happen in every conflict.
Everyone is doing them. Poo happens.
They get processed only if there’s enough media focus and interest.
You need a good PR to avoid the trials, and these days Russians are failing on that front.

  7. goldenbrown

there will be a good few on here probably that don’t know who this guy was really

imho Matt LeTissier was the finest left foot ever in football full stop and could use his right too on occasion (YouTube his top 10 goals if you like impressive things)

and a simple fella who stayed put at poor oul Southampton for love of the club when he really could have been at Juventus, Liverpool, or you name it…so a very admirable past

but he’s seriously lost his nut has Matt, David Icke style

    a bit like Broadsheet zoo
