It will be pretty easy to see how much Muskrat really values free speech.

Just call everyone a paedo guy. According to him, that’s perfectly reasonable, rational behaviour.

      1. TenPin Terry

It’s a high price to pay for triggering boneheads like you but Musk’s purchase has got the Smugeratti in a right old state and it’s a joy to watch.
        Peak Woke™

        1. SOQ

Musk has ran a very effective PR campaign and while he may loosen the political agenda behind Twitter but I very much doubt he is the good guy he is presented to be.

Behind all the drama, Twitter was heading the same way as Facebook, and needed a face lift.

          1. Verbatim

I betcha he woke up this morning and said, ‘What have I done?’ happens to me all the time! I know him, I’m a friend of his (on Twitter)

        2. Ian - oG

Totally agree Micko, I just find it hilarious to think his motivation to spend all that money is simply to allow people say what they like.

I presume people get the ‘paedo guy’ reference though?

      2. K. Cavan

If someone is a paedophile, it seems labelling them as such is a Good Thing. People like Nigel, for example, who denounces De Santis in his efforts to ensure primary-level schoolkids are not introduced to issues like Transgenderism, clearly supports the advancement of the paedophile agenda that lies at the heart of Queer Theory. He is in favour, as pointed out succinctly by Chris, of institutional grooming of children & the premature destruction of childhood innocence to benefit the advancement of extremist dogma on sex & sexuality & deserves the label “groomer” as do all who support such perversity.

        1. Nigel

And of course if you successfully smear people you disagree with or dislike as pedophiles and groomers, it’s easier to suppress them and criminalise them. Free speech everybody! It’s a good fallback if labelling them as traitors to humanity over the vaccines doesn’t catch on.

          1. K. Cavan

Nigel, your support for the sexualisation of children has led you to be labelled a groomer, not a paedophile & not just by me.
Unlike you, I believe in the principle of Free Speech, you might criminalise me for my opinions, I would never even consider doing the same to you.
You would ban from Twitter anyone ACCUSED of being Nazis, sexual harassers, racists, abusers, threateners, Holocaust deniers or homophobes. You then added to this list anyone who ACCUSED someone else of being a paedophile. So you ban the latter accuser, along with all the former accused?
Imagine Twitter under your stewardship, it would be empty of commentary, everyone having been banned for being accused of something or for accusing someone else of something.
What a very confused person you are.
I still wouldn’t consider banning you, though, because if you don’t believe in Free Speech for people who’s views you find reprehensible, then you don’t believe in Free Speech & unlike you, I do believe in Free Speech.

          2. Vlad X. Novichok

Still astonishes me that even today, people rationalize that their notion of free speech should somehow protect them from the consequences of their words.

          3. Nigel

If you are labelling me a grromer you are by definition criminalising me, since grooming is a criminal activity, unless your freedom of speech absolutism is so absolute you believe that grooming children for sexual abuse is a form of free speech which, frankly, would not actually surprise me.

    2. K. Cavan

Well, you’re describing the current situation, so you know that most of these people have exactly the same political beliefs or, at least, project the same political beliefs & are fanatical in repressing all other points of view.
Elon Musk has, for some time, extolled values that are more in line with Classical Liberalism & democratic norms, namely, Free Speech. Therefore, anyone who believes in these Liberal values will be delighted with his purchase of Twitter & those of a more anti-democratic, totalitarian mindset will find it dismaying.
Which are you, Ferg? You decide.

Ah well China in crises a property crash over there that will spark a crises especially as western companies jumped in like a hot snot to enjoy the fruits of the so called property boom that fuelled their economy
Now whole new cities with millions of homes with no buyers as they are unaffordable
Maybe our housing minister will relocate our homeless there to solve our housing crises
With interest rate hikes covid wars in Ukraine the crash is coming pretty soon
We never learnt from the last crash and unlike the last crash ireland had a boom from the Celtic tiger

    1. stephen moran

But everyone here told me the $ was doomed and the CNY was going to replace it as the global reserve currency next Monday – I laughed so much I nearly chocked – shame they never heard of the Triffin Paradox – with the JPY about to break 130 and the BoJ caught up a box canyon things could get ugly – the PBOC has more mundane things to think about like an imploding property market, a dodgy under capitalized shadow banking system, a stock market that’s play catch a falling knife and a useless currency that fails to meet any of the basic definitional requirements of an anchor / peg for anything.

      1. K. Cavan

Stephen, the US dollar IS doomed, it’s fate now sealed & the collapse of the Chinese property market has been predicted for many years but has failed to materialise, because those making the predictions exist in entirely different economies & systems than that which exists in China. The CPC will decide if & when their property market collapses, because they control their entire internal market & as the supplier of consumer goods to the rest of the world, their international position is now that formerly held by the, now flailing, Americans.
You seem to be stuck in the past & have failed to realise that we are at a tipping point, which, once passed, will make its inexorable progress to its conclusion, no matter what happens in stock markets or wherever else, in the intervening period.
The game’s up, son & all the waffling in the world won’t change that one iota.

    2. K. Cavan

This upcoming “Crash”, Kin, has been deliberately engineered, as a prelude to The Great Reset. Sanctions never end wars or ensure the “Regime Change” that those imposing them claim to desire. Decades of sanctions haven’t worked on a tiny nation like Cuba, so are not going to be effective against the largest country in the world, especially when imposed by only a tiny minority of states.
The leaders of The West know this very well, the target of their sanctions & those most likely to suffer negative outcomes from their imposition is not Russia, it is their own citizens. The EU, US, Canada, Australia & New Zealand have all clearly demonstrated a desire to harm the health & well-being of their own populations, over the last few years & the introduction of food & fuel shortages, in support of an illigitimate, corrupt, Nazi-infested regime, ruling over a destitute dump like Ukraine, is just the latest in a series of assaults on Human & Civil Rights they’ve engaged in, as they attempt to impose a series of agendas which will culminate in a Dystopian nightmare which they, alone, envision as the way forward.

      1. anti bot

Well done horrid man. You posted 3 comments without mentioning Nazia. Hoe can you conflate trans right people with being peados? Explain again why it is acceptable to invade another smaller nation?

The problem with the Irish protocol is moving a border from across this island to the coast and as such annexing Northern Ireland from the UK
that’s how the unionists see it
A BORDER IS WHERE ONE JURISDICTION ENDS AND ANOTHER STARTS
war are fought over borders as we see in Ukraine and the problem with Russia annexing crimea
The fact is that brexit is unworkable unless the border magically moves to the coast
It is the elephant in the room
The only solution is no border checks and they are not needed as trade now is electronic not bags of cash transported to pay for things and constant checks needed to ensure either sides are fiddled
    Even down to criminal smuggling
The cost in paperwork and pettiness costs far more than the odd bit of dishonesty that will happen
But politics want to be spiteful and poor Ireland pays the price as the EU and UK bicker

Just continue as before with Ireland having a special agreement re trade that’s what all of Ireland north and south want and the only solution
What do they think Ireland will be ? the back door into the UK
Well if that’s the case we will see a traffic jam from cork and Dublin and Wexford to Belfast to the ferry crossing that can only send 5 ferries a day loaded with trucks with smuggled goods in ferry ports jammed to the gills
And total gridlock in all honesty this will not happen

    1. Fearganainm

The European Union (EU) is a political and economic union of 27 member states of which Ireland is but one. The EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement is the legal framework which applies, not ‘side deals’ to please the UK that have no validity.

    2. stephen moran

There simply have to be SPS checks on live animal and meat products etc. coming in from GB – BSE and Foot and Mouth were both imported from GB into Ireland – there were punitive bans for over a decade on Irish beef exports etc. to many countries as a result.

      1. Mad

Why do you think British livestock management standards are lower than they are here stephen?

        1. stephen moran

Technically their standards should be exactly the same given there hasn’t been any regulatory any regulatory divergence (notwithstanding Reek-Smirks self delusional exceptionalism fantasies ) .I’d guess the enforcement regime has been at times very lax given farming is perceived as a hobby rather than a livelihood (that they are willing to sacrifice for asymmetrical trade deals with far flung former colonies and a few cheap headlines in the Redtops) by successive governments of both hues in the UK as it accounts for a tiny percentage of GDP. Recall the less than reassuring sight of John Selwyn Gummer force feeding his hapless daughter a burger in a tabloid photoshoot in denialism over the reality of BSE. In short GB cannot be trust to uphold SPS standards unless they are rigorously policed by the EU.
          https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/bse-crisis-john-selywn-gummer-2122969

        2. stephen moran

Well when you can trace mass outbreaks of BSE and Foot and Mouth disease etc. directly back to Ireland as opposed to the UK mainland do come back to me with the evidence

We have skin in the game in ensuring the highest standards prevail- GB does not and cares even less – you’ve clearly never worked with the Irish Agri-Food sector

          1. Cú Chulainn

We have to have the border in the sea, otherwise those caterpillars are going to get us. Simples.

          2. Mad

It’s tiresome debating with you / a. you know it all already b. You regurgitate press releases as fact.
You seem like a very simple minded lad and your remark that we have “skin in the game” equally adds up to incredible incentives to game the system as we’ve seen in the horsemeat scandal.
Again, other than racism and raiméis you’ve provided no evidence to show that our standards are any better ( or worse) than those in the UK

        3. stephen moran

No just tiresome irksome things like facts – the incidences of BSE and Foot and Mouth in the Republic of Ireland were caused by live imports from the UK mainland via Northern Ireland. Fact. when you’ve lost the argument you resort to petty jibes. This is not racism, its fact. As I said if you can disprove the facts then I’m all ears but please refrain from fact free editorializing

          1. Mad

I didn’t dispute that at all Stephen.
I asked you to give some evidence and you give one or two examples, to subsidize your own argument – ok fair enough- but when you refuse to accept that we have had lots of similar scandals here – horsemeat, pigs etc- your style of debate loses lustre and makes you look like (only) a mildly risible fool. These are not petty jibes – I am just calling it like it is. Sorry your skin is not thick enough to take constructive criticism. Take care.

Boris Johnson is flailing – so he is reviving his Brexit greatest hits

      https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/apr/26/boris-johnson-northern-ireland-brexit-protocol

“One day, when Boris Johnson is no longer prime minister and the full catalogue of his frauds is compiled, a special place will belong to one that got him elected in the first place. Before he attended any lockdown parties, before there were pandemic rules to break or lies to tell about the breakage, there was the promise to Get Brexit Done. It is not done. That is why Johnson’s government is drafting a law that would give ministers the power to override the Northern Ireland protocol of the Brexit deal. This is the very treaty that Johnson hailed as “great”, “excellent”, a fulfilment of all his negotiating ambitions. If that were true, he would not now be planning to set it on fire…”

  3. SOQ

The cabinet will meet tomorrow to discuss proposals that would see vacant social housing used as accommodation for Ukrainians.

    https://www.newstalk.com/news/vacant-social-housing-likely-to-be-used-for-ukrainians-1335036

    Once again the obvious questions-

Why wasn’t those vacant social housing units refurbished before now?

Why is the refugee’s welfare more important that the already homeless in Ireland?

We will now have a two tier homeless system from a government who refuses to set limits- it stinks to the high heavens.

    1. TenPin Terry

Questions the Irish media should be rigorously asking this government but won’t.
I’ve been quite taken by surprise on my return from foreign climes by the yawning gap between the official state-sponsored version of Ireland’s Ukraine response and what ordinary folk think.
They are rightly getting very pissed off.
And this is after only a few weeks.
Wait till it stretches into months and years.

      1. SOQ

You can see those boarded up council flats all over the city. When there is people living above, below, and on either side, the issues are clearly not structural, so why is it taking to long to repair them?

We are talking about a new kitchen / bathroom kit out and maybe some damp proof and plastering- for 20 grand a half decent builder would be in and out within a week. The councils have a lot to answer for.

Maintaining social housing is something the north does really well. Then again, 16% of all housing stock are social in NI- as opposed to about 3% in ROI. There is no equivalent of the Northern Irish Housing Executive in the south.

And it shows in the property prices too.

        1. Johnny

          That’s a lie.
          All day.
          Every day.
          It’s wrong.
          You made up the 3%
          You have no source.
          It’s just another lie.

        2. K. Cavan

We pay taxes to local Government, in the form of the illigitimate Home Tax, SOQ but our elected representatives to those bodies have no power, it’s one of the clearest cases of taxation without representation you’ll ever see. City & County managers, who are unelected Public Servants, rule these authorities as dictators. Most people don’t understand that our central government has no legal or political power over these individuals or their councils & the ensuing level of incompetence in Local Government makes the Civil Service look like a Japanese car plant.
They have managed to snarl up every attempt to build Social Housing, by constant flouting of EU-imposed rules on the awarding of contracts, leaving central government as a piggy in the middle, caught between Brussels & Ballydehob.

    2. K. Cavan

How our government takes care of Ukrainian refugees will be of interest to the media in Ireland, SOQ.
The fate of Irish citizens will not.
Irish politicians serve the interests of the Globalist Oligarchs & their power bases in the US & Brussels, not Irish citizens.

  4. NobleLocks

Delighted to see a free speech absolutionist take over twitter. Now he needs to fire the board, fire EVERY SINGLE one of the so called moderators (or ultra left political activists as they should be known) and then buy out Disney next.

Cancel culture cultists. just as ye sow ye shall reap :)

    1. SOQ

It appears like a number of accounts have been reinstated already. I am not sure it was just the ‘woke’ losing the run of themselves, or direct instructions from those who owned the company?

    2. Nigel

Let tha Nazis back on! Sexual harassment! Racist abuse! Threats! Holocaust denial! Rampant homophobia! Calling anyone you don’t like a pedophile!

      Won’t twitter be fun!

      1. TenPin Terry

Tbh I’d rather have all that than some Twitter drone cancelling accounts because their message doesn’t sound right in the woke echo chamber.
The funny thing is for years the Smugerattis have been saying if you don’t like Twitter go and get your own social media company.
Someone has done just that and now they’re wailing like banshees.
        Top work Elon.

        1. Nigel

I know you would! Without the Nazis, the sexual harassment etc then it really is just a woke echo chamber, that’s right!

What an accurate asseessment of twitter!

      2. NobleLocks

You you don’t seem to mind when the sexual harassment, racial and sexual abuse, homophobia come from your side of the line? You definitely don’t seem to mind when JK Rowling and all of the other women out there are given appallingly graphic and serious death threats especially when it’s your precious, “100% victim trans men” issuing these death threats… yeah, men issuing death threats to women for daring to have an opinion, that’s all fine!

You’re going to sow what you reaped and in your galactical narcissism, you STILL think it’s someone else’s fault. Like screaming infants you wail ceaselessly while striking out at everyone in reach. There are simply no words to describe how contemptable your vacuous extreme leftist nonsense is.

To quote the Joker Meme: You get what you effin’ deserve.

        1. Nigel

Don’t I? Let me make it clear – sexual harassment and absue directed at anyone, including JK Rowling, is bad and shouldn’t be allowed. How’s that? I hope you think the same about abuse directed at trans people.

You clearly have a lot of resentment and hostility built up since some idiot got banned for saying the N word, the Day Free Speech Died, murdered by wokists.

      3. K. Cavan

Nigel does his Chicken Licken act, declaring that the sky is falling down. To extoll the virtues of the current regime at Twitter is to support Political Censorship, the act of a Totalitarian, to do so on the basis of denouncing the content of posts not yet made, by persons unknown is hysterical, ranting lunacy.
As we’ve come to expect from Nigel.

        1. anti bot

You do realise that Twitter is a private company and can edit whatever comment is mage. It’s not an elected. Sorry, I forgot caven soq are not into elected governments. also you posted without mentioning Nazis.

    3. bWildered1

Just how far to the right do you have to be to believe those who value decency and truth are somehow far left?
No, there aren’t Jewish Space Lasers.
No, there isn’t a pedophile ring in the US Democratic Party.
No, this ‘ring’ doesn’t eat babies either.
No, the Ukrainians are not NAZIs – that’d be Puntin’s Russians

Yes, you should really consider psychological help if you believe these or any of the other myriad nonsense that comes from these right-wing nutjobs.

      1. SOQ

If you think there is no Nazis in Ukraine then I have a very nice bridge to sell you. The place is teaming with them and no, not all are Azov.

    4. K. Cavan

Since the current staff at Twitter oversaw & instigated the current politically biased regime there, Musk will have to do a clear-out of obese, purple-haired activists. On the other hand, many of them, forced to allow Free Speech on the website, will probably exit, anyway.

  5. TenPin Terry

    I’m struggling today.
I still can’t erase the image of Angela Rayner’s ginger growler from my mind.
Even thinking about V’s creamed horn isn’t helping.
    Lawks.

        1. K. Cavan

The sight of Rayner’s pudenda would obviously lead to TPT & andrew ejaculating into their rancid underwear.
Rayner is a moron, it’s a love triangle made in Hell.

  6. Chris

Hepatitis outbreak in children linked to lockdown? Yes, sitting alone in your room gives you infectious diseases. It’s growingly apparent that people’s tolerance of Stockholm idiots is wearing very thin.

Anyone defending the narrative at this point is a callous traitor of humanity. Shameful stuff.

    1. SOQ

The media are wildly speculating as to what is causing it without actually defining what it is.

It is not the usual- A.B,C and cannot be D or E without the first three- so what is it? There is talk of a cold like virus and of course questions about a potential vaccine side effect, but it is unlikely that those children were jabbed.

Potential side effect of shedding or spike maybe? That is now accepted as a thing, so who knows. It is very serious if so many are in complete liver failure however. There is a number of recorded cases of reactived Hepatitis C after vaccination.

Why so many in the UK?

      1. bWildered1

“Potential side effect of shedding or spike maybe? That is now accepted as a thing”

        By whom?
        QANON?

        1. SOQ

Many reports of unvaccinated women having heavy periods after being around recently vaccinated people. Of course even vaccinated women having irregular periods was dismissed as ‘silly women’- until the evidence could not be ignored.

Pharma funded ‘fact checkers’ can scream ‘no evidence’ all they want, but most unvaccinated people know exactly what ‘spiked’ means- myself included.

          1. andrew

This comment must be read in the context that 90% of SOQ’s comments are complete lies, and the other 10% are unfounded speculation and conjecture

          2. SOQ

I don’t accuse others of lying- it is a professional comms trick to discredit, and a red flag in the shill department.

  7. K. Cavan

As Woke gets flushed down the toilet of history, it would’ve taken Twitter, in its current incarnation, down with it. Now, with a more open, democratic & free speech-based approach, it has a good chance of surviving the upcoming bonfire of luxury beliefs.
