A Mercy Run

at

This morning.

Tuam, county Galway.

“This a wound for our nation to carry.”

Writer Michael Harding greets a group of German runners and cyclists – led by John McGurk (top in kilt with RTÉ’s Pat McGrath) – who arrived at the Tuam burial site after a six-day trek across six countries in memory of the 796 children who died at the Mother and Baby Home and whose remains are still interred.

On their way to Tuam, the group laid a wreath to remember those buried at a similar mass grave in St Mary’s, Lanarkshire, Scotland,

Greeting the group were families and survivors of lost children, campaigners – including Catherine Corless – and Archbishop of Tuam Francis Duffy.

Why did they invite the archbishop? The Church has been lying and stalling on this issue for decades.

    Sort of confronting him
They had a Holocaust and justice was served
We on the other hand refuse to tackle our Holocaust

If you can see RTE news online, they carried the Archbishop’s message where he essentially states he is providing a listening service to survivors. I could not capture all speeches. I arrived with survivors of the now infamous home and families of the lost children. Our member Ted also spoke of looking for his cousin Josephine – a search which he began in the 1980’s. He is not considered as a relative by State. Minister O’Gorman et al refuse to allow cousins participate in the DNA process; database etc. he spoke on RTE news at One today which is in player for those interested and will also play again on RTE 6.01 most likely with greater detail.

We have a long way to go.

Thank you to all for your continued support

Why would any survivor want to listen to him? The Church has been lying its teeth off about this whole issue for decades. If the Church wants to be involved it should first pony up the tens of millions of pounds it promised and that is still outstanding over ten years later. Don’t give those Church hypocrites any PR breathing space. Fupp Terry Prone.

Do not forget the state (who are not the people but those elected by the people to run our country) who were complicit in this evil
And still to this day they drag their heels

The bishop is sniffing around to see if there’s any more soft money to be made from the dead kids. He might be invited to say an auld mass or two. Tis important to stay relevant.
