‘A Red Herring’

at

This morning.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has described concerns over the ownership of the site of new National Maternity Hospital as “a red herring”.

Via RTÉ News:

Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Mr Martin said the co-location idea with St Vincent’s University Hospital was something that was developed nearly 20 years ago by expertise saying that maternity hospitals and neo-natal care units in the future should be co-located with major tertiary hospitals.

Asked about concerns expressed over ownership structures and full services being offered, the Taoiseach said these have been “comprehensively addressed“.

Meanwhile…

Mr Martin said two clauses in the constitution of the new hospital oblige the directors to carry out all legal services permissible within the State.

He added: “…also the Minster [for Health] can direct them to so do and they must comply, and then you look at the operating license which the Health Service Executive will be giving to this hospital, which again will be obliging the hospital to carry out all legal services permissible in the State“.

He said the ownership of the hospital is clear and the Government will be pressing ahead with it.

he’s deaf, it has not been addressed to the ladies of Ireland’s satisfaction.

3 very concerning terms of the lease

      1. Under “the control of the nuns new vehicle”

      2. “always available to the Landlord ”

      3. “the State must never attempt to buy the Freehold”

That is giving complete control to the nuns and the Catholic Church ethos and blocking the State from ever owning the Hospital.
Michael Martin acknowledged in March 2020 that the indemnity signed in 2002 was wrong.
There is no shame in acknowledging now that this proposed lease is wrong. He has a legal and moral obligation to ensure the rights of Irish Citizens under the Irish Constitution.
Every legal challenge will be in favour of the owner of the Freehold. The nuns know this. The Vatican know this
Build the hospital on State owned land or acquire the Freehold.

It really is a red herring
Religious order sets up shelf company to own asset that taxpayer pays for
Just abandon it and build it on a site owned by the people of Ireland and the money saved can fly all women giving birth on private jet for ten years and they will all come back with a tan as well

I actually think if he is that he would need to take a course of Numan as advertised on the telly both for his hair loss and his pecker

    Such arrogance !
Typical of a man who has held public office for too long.
An institutional response ‘I’m right and we are proceeding ‘ no acknowledgement of real concerns expressed in recent days.
Maybe he could explain to Simon McGarr & Dr Boylan why he’s so confident given the paperwork is a red flag for many of us.

Donnelly spent the weekend on twitter replying to people who don’t believe the nuns (which is everyone bar Fianna Fail, it would seem!). This backlash has them severely rattled and they don’t know how to deal with it.

Join us at the Dáil next Saturday, 14th May, at 2 o’clock. We will settle for nothing less than a public and secular new National Maternity Hospital.

The church / vatican may be about to support provision of abortion …or at least if that narrative was pushed they might be compelled to publically state otherwise…

In the mean time a public showing of support for challenge to pushing this through is a great idea… there is enough resistance and feeling opposed to ensure that it’s not a politician from the previous times who asserts his view as the last word as seems to be his intent…

can’t imagine the more recent politician that is varadkar will allow himself to become required to fulfil the wishes and benefit to the church in the same dutiful manner… as no doubt the church and state parties in support of this current proposition are keenly aware

We get what we deserve. Time and time again these charmless men & women lie and steal from us and we vote them in again and again. Definition of insanity. Now the cold dead hand of the church gets to keep their filthy discredited interfering selves all over the citizens business. Klaus Schwab is a cheerleader which says it all that a man whose aim is to steal our freedoms and all of our possessions would be in bed with these servants of evil.

Does the image of nuns in their wimples
    Bring Mehole out in goose-pimples?
Pack him off to a nunnery
    To practise his flummery
Problem solved, or as some would say, ‘Simples’.

The rent penalty clause is really disturbing. It means that if any part of the state investigated nationalising church assets they could be seen to breach this clause and hence cause the penalty rent to come into force. The result being that the state will actively be incentivsed to prevent such discussion. Its actually appalling and I can’t figure out why no one seems bothered by this part.
