This statement from Leo is about 5 years late. Rent has been out of control since 2017.

I remember the days before cheap money
Those days government controlled property prices by interest rate rises
I bought a three bedroom flat in ranelagh on the average industrial wage and a single man who just had to supplement his income by getting a lodger
The interest rate was 18% at most and 12.5% at least
I purchased that flat for £ punts 35000 and sold it before the Celtic tiger in 1993 for £punts 52 thousand
Then came cheap money and governments that could not control an economy
Bring back haughey and bord snip Colm mc carthy

does he believe that? do u think he’s so sure of himself that he just blocks out his roll in it all? or is it just crocodile tears? As always with Varadkar, his actions could always be down to only one of three or so things, and none of the options are good.

High rents make headlines and Leo suddenly has great sympathy for the people who have to pay them. No way is it a soundbite or bit of PR, the man genuinely has the best interests of the people of Ireland and not just himself

ah of course! that’s it. He says “rents are too high” in the Dail, and then every government sponsored newsite posts it as a headline, so it looks like it’s a concerning issue for him. I’d file that under “crocodile tears”

More to the point, how did Leo become a millionaire?

More importantly, he has failed to declare his rental property in the Oireachtas register of member’s interests

How does anyone become a millionaire? hard work, earnings, investment, inheritance… Why aren’t you a millionaire?

As I understand it, as long as it was not rented up to 31st December 2021, he only has to declare it as an interest before the end of this year provided it is rented out on that date

I don’t understand this… the Taoiseach isn’t allowed to own property? Isn’t allowed to make it available to those who want to rent it? Isn’t allowed to live with his boyfriend??? What the fupp is the point of this nasty bullshit?

He’s a married man with children by his wife. I don’t think he’s arguing semantics here.

lol… okay, I see my mistake. Apologies to the taoiseach and to Leo and to the internet for admitting I was wrong…
