Many, if not all, print journalists especially the younger ones, have no belief in or understanding of many concepts which underpin our democracy, indeed they tend to believe in Expertism over Democracy itself.
Of course, this causes problems when experts disagree &, lacking the democratic concepts which help decide between competing viewpoints, they tend to demand that some of the experts must be shut down & censored, so that an enforced unity is achieved.
They’re Authoritarians, basically.
Poorly educated – ignorant.
Independent thought must be shut down immediately…….

Coyne really is a perfect example of the Authoritarian types who infest our media. Believing her own political viewpoint is unassailably correct, she’s concluded that debate, disagreement & “the market-place of ideas” are no longer neccessary & that her dishonesty is entirely moral & justified, because she’s right & therefore all who disagree with her are wrong.
In short, she is an Activist & a Fanatic, the very opposite of what journalists should be, in a Free Society but exactly what is required for the Oligarchy of The Wealthy which is currently replacing Democracy here, in The Empire of Lies.

There was a time when a journalist caught lying was a career ender. Now it’s full Pravda, toe the editorial line and lie with impunity. Hacks such as herself are an embarrassment to what the profession once was.
