3. After four stinkers in a row, writer/director M. Night Shyamalan badly needs a win.
4. In terms of having it and blowing it, Shyamalan (do doo do do doo) could give the Wachowskis a run for their money.
5. The Happening (2008) is down there with Tommy Wiseau’s The Room (2003). It’s hypnotically dreadful.
6. Broadsheet Prognosis: I bet the mother has something to do with it.

I’ll be interested to see how this turns out. M. Night has left a bad taste in people’s mouths. His earlier movies were excellent (Unbreakable, in particular) but all those were soured by the real duds of late. Watched The Happening for the first time at the weekend and wow, there is nothing good about that movie, nothing.
Yeah. The Happening is hilariously bad. The scene where they’re running away from the wind was a particular low.
I have to admit, in a 1970s b-movie kinda way… I liked it :)
Don’t get me wrong, there were some scenes that were laugh out loud bad… with some of the best-worst dialogue ever !

A lot of ppl didnt like The Happening , I actually liked it, and Im not a big fan of either of the leads, I wouldnt say it was a blockbuster, but it was solid enough for me, I suspected at the time, that people didnt like it because they felt it was making some sort of preachy connection to climate change. I like the premise…
After Earth, I just didnt like the dynamic of father and son
This will sounds crazy but I did over time get the feeling from his body of work , that he was ‘attacking’ traditional religions , or didnt have much ‘faith’ in them. In some of his movies the characters have little to do with religion and in others it was used as a method of control (the village) and in Signs, the reverend lost his faith and instead of finding it again, aliens arrived ..
I think this caused some ppl to subconsciously dislike him , I know Im reaching …
