I’ve been in Australia for some time now and it’s only when in a country like this, that has an accountable Police force and not a ‘club for the lads to have the craic’, which serves the public well, that I remember how badly behaved Gardai can be. If any Australian police officer did this, they would not only be suspended, but quite probably fired. There’s more of it up at the new courthouse near Heuston Station, where Garda cars are usually piled up all over the pavements and on yellow lines. They just do whatever they feel like and f**k everyone else.

Yep, same at Pearse and the station across from bus eireann, mostly parked on double yellow lines. It’s like Gardai are unable to drive to work. I get that some do shift work where there is no public transport but that’s the same for anyone doing shift work, pay for parking like everyone else.

“999? Help my shop is being robbed”

“Ya might stall him there love, I’m just trying to find a parking spot”

This is disgraceful. gardai should never break the law particularly when they are doing their job. Never park illegally, never break the speed limit, Never defend politicians from abuse and assault from “peaceful” protesters, Never use pepper spray on helpless people. Never use force when removing drunken louts form the street. NEVER EVER bend the rules in anyway to accommodate Joe Citizen . Who the hell do they think they are.

PS in case you need help at any-time ring Paul Murphy or Ruth Coppinger

If it was a 999 emergency do you think they would reverse nearly into a parking space? They’re gone in to get a breakfast roll probably.

They can park wherever they want, they were probably dealing with a crime. Next time pause and think before you get outraged.

How do you know they were “dealing with a crime”? They’re probably gone to get lunch.

The driver has parked in a wheelchair space. If anyone else did that you’d be crucified. These are the people who are supposed to be upholding the law, not transgressing it.

They’re implying that the driver might actually be disabled. Unlikely, given that they’re a police officer but still, you missed their point entirely.
