From top: A screengrab from a Sunday Independent story in relation to Digicel’s pending stock market flotation in New York and screengrabs from the company’s latest filings to the US Securities and Exchange Commission ahead of its public offering
Namawinelake tweetz:
‘DOB’s [Denis O’Brien’s 30%-owned INM papers say Digicel could be worth $13billion; it made a loss of $158million last year & is balance sheet insolvent to tune of $2.9billion…How could company that’s $3billion balance sheet insolvent be worth $13billion? Are its future prospects that good?’
Anyone?

Enterprise value includes debt.
EV = debt + equity
” the premise is wrong – adding debt will not raise enterprise value” – https://www.wallstreetprep.com/blog/common-topics-of-confusion-for-investment-banking-analysts/
Nobody cares finance boy.
Mr T ain’t got time for no education fool
Not quite.
EV=Market Capitalisation + Total Debt – Cash
Not so equationy at all.
[REDACTED]’s broke and forced into a firesale of assets. Spectacular mismanagement. That is all.
Unfortunately, that’s really not the case
Get over yourself. Take away the bribes and he’s nothing.
Again, completely wrong.
I’m reckon he’s bust too. Then again, wishful thinking???
Digicel is quite profitable but is also hugely leveraged.
DOB has also taken out massive dividends for himself the last couple of years.
There was a piece in private eye a bit ago about it.

“DOB has also taken out massive dividends for himself the last couple of years.”
Lawyers aren’t free loike..
shares in AMWATP’s legal team is the way to go..
HAHA!
Google thinks that’s Japanese
私はあなたを訴えるつもりです
Nick Webb could always be relied upon to write an poorly researched, hyped up puff piece. DOB didn’t need to buy 30% of INM for that…
He’s basically broke. Stretched himself too far and is now trying to raise cash. It’s been all over the media.
could you show me somewhere in the media where it has been suggested he’s broke? Please and thanks.
Mr T lives in a world where he thinks he’s the star of the Corrs.
“Irish-linked” – Would Facebook’s IPO not have been somewhat larger and arguably with a more concrete Irish link?
How could company that’s $3billion balance sheet insolvent be worth $13billion? Future revenue.
Are its future prospects that good? Possibly yes.
Don’t let logic get in the way of the FOTM
Sure with TTP, TTIP and TiSA coming if the forecasts of the company being worth that muchg dont come true he’ll be able to sue those countries for mot making his company profitable. Yay for corporates running the world !! It’s win win for them and fupp you for everyone else !!! Whooooo hooooo!
…god dmaned typos, dman you, damn you all to hell
It’s getting very acronymous.
Supermarket junior managers in bad suits love people like Denis O’Brien. He’s like their idol.
Most young internet firms are losing cash hand over fist. It’s the future value that may accrue to them that investors invest in. Hence it could be worth a shed load – it also helps Digicel prevents apps which by pass it’s services on it’s network. Nothing like a natural monopoly
“$13billion and all I got was this lousy magnolia emulsion”, said Michael Lowry, about a completely unrelated incident in an alternative universe.
And a Doncaster Rovers signed shirt
There has been plenty of comment that Digicel has tapped the bond markets for all they’re worth and actually needs this IPO to go off without a hitch.
They refinanced recently at lower rates but the debt is in dollars. The dollar has gained 8% on the currency of their main markets (i.e. their income) this year.
so, hypothetically of course – how could a person or persons ensure that this IPO doesn’t proceed as expected?
I wonder if Martin O’Neill, Roy Keane and Jonny Sexton are nervous?
How much will be shares be then? 10 a penny..
Shur Denis himself is estimated to be worth 6 billion or something… looks like it’s a pile of debt to me.
I dont know how one person amasses so much power though.. capitalism run amok.. while in the back pocket of politicians I suppose.
Could it possibly be that after the demise of the O’Reilly empire that the O’Brien
one is on the rocks also, O’Brien has been doing a lot of sabre rattling in the legal
area, is it not diversion to take away attention that an enterprise he controls has huge debts and its supposed to be worth 13 Billion…Really… What inspired the Nick Webb article, what’s its purpose…..given that O’Brien has 29% of INM.
“Based upon standard multiples of Digicel’s earnings and also the value of its main competitor, Cable & Wireless, it is estimated that Digicel is worth somewhere between $8 billion and $10 billion, including its $6.5 billion debt.”

Whats the difference between Denis O ‘Brien and a sociopath? One is “a person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behavior and a lack of conscience”. The other is a sociopath.
