Access to legal and safe abortion was made available by the Bolsheviks in 1920 ; however it was banned in 1936 (the law in fairness included many provisions to remove economic necessity as a reason for abortion).

The Nazis permitted abortion in the case of fatal foetal abnormality but the doctor who aborted an ‘Aryan’ baby (in the sense in which the Nazis used that term) could be executed.

Is it really true that voting No has the biggest lead in world political history?

    1. TheRealJane

That depends on a lot of redefinition of words. Like biggest, history, lead, for example.

Personally, although I do hope and will vote for a specific outcome, I think either side would be unwise to use such grandiose terms.

      1. newsjustin

That is the greatest reply in the history of online political discourse Jane. Well done.

seeing as he does actually have his name, address and phone number at the end of it, how about asking him to make an appearance on broadsheet on the telly? the whingers keep saying it’s an echo chamber, but this would fix that

I hate the fuppin’ referendum – all the ghouls come out, the creepyness of some of the “campaigning” is grim..and the fear of lawsuits has every clown on the airwaves in the pursuit of absolute balance..radio off till June..

    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/diligent-sergeant-raises-alarm-about-danger-lurking-in-sex-pistols-album-1.1276082

In June 1978, the Children’s Protection Society complained to gardaí about a “shameful film” being shown at the Irish Film Theatre on Dublin’s Earlsfort Terrace. The society’s secretary, John P Clerkin, wrote that he attended the members-only cinema and saw Arabian Nights which contained full-frontal nudity, explicit sex, decapitation and ritual killing. He questioned how such a film could be shown in a theatre opposite UCD.
Three days later, a Garda sergeant went into the cinema and viewed the film for 10 to 15 minutes. He said he saw a naked couple on the bed making love “although it was obvious no sexual intercourse was taking place”. A Garda inspector investigated the legislation and reported that club cinemas did not fall under the film censor’s remit because the films could only be viewed by members and so were not shown “in public”.

this Clerkin lad seems to be a right oul’ busy body

  9. Boules

Fair enough that this guy is clearly deranged and it’s very nice to be sympathetic towards him but he can’t just go around putting up any posters at will, never-mind such hateful tripe as this.
Could Bodger please post the exact location of this poster so that it can be reported to the relevant Local Authority. It will be liable to a €150 litter fine.
Luckily, he wont be too hard to track down.
