This morning.
“Communications guru” John Concannon, formerly of the Strategic Communications Unit, Creative Ireland, The Gathering, Discover Ireland, the Wild Atlantic Way, and Fáilte Ireland, begins his new role of managing the State’s communication on Covid-19.
Meanwhile….

It’s a new Government press centre.
StratComs, oh goody.
Back with a new StratCave
Wasn’t he fired ignominiously…
Well the HSE did ask for Volunteers
So I’m sure that’s all it is
Doing his bit for oul’ Ireland
Doubt it’s a volunteer role. Still, he knows his stuff and is a decent fella by all accounts.
John has confirmed that it’s at no extra cost to the State or Taxpayer – https://twitter.com/JCGalway/status/1240010476374941698
On secondment or redeployment so.
As it should be in these challenging times.
That doesn’t make it better, it was his approach that was the problem, is there going to be more government native advertising in newspapers?
He can’t speak Irish for toffee, God bless him – “Ag Obaie Cheile”
I’m absolutely shocking at it myself, as evidenced by my teaching skills this week. The young wan teaching me as Gaeilge, not the other way round.
I quite regret my lack of skill with the language now.
I’d recommend Garry Bannister’s “What’s that as Gaeilge”
He also has a dictionary of English-Irish slang called “Kiss My…”
The latter is very much no-holds-barred; and quite funny.
Cheers for the rec, Paulus. Was even thinking of breaking out the aul duolingo app to try and brush up on the Irish. I’ll check these out too
While colouring in the crucified Christ for homework recently, Theo Jr put forward the view that the Romans were a bad bunch.
I felt the need to point to the development of utilities, and new forms of architecture etc.. the whole scene was pleasingly akin to what-have-the-romans-ever-done-for-us.
Prompting a rewatch of the classic heretical movie, I hope.
They’re building a hospital what else…
Making space for the printer
And what about social distancing John/Tony?
John needs reminding of Tony’s performance in the cervical smear debacle before extolling virtues such as those he mentioned – ‘Unquestionable integrity, decency ‘
