Ryan Tubridy has revealed some of the guests who will be joining him on the Late Late Show tomorrow night, with the US’ Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases,Dr Anthony Fauci  among the line-up.

Speaking on his RTÉ Radio 1 show on Thursday morning, Tubridy also announced that former President of Ireland Mary McAleese and world champion boxer Kellie Harrington will be among his guests. The Late Late Show later tweeted that Jedward will be around for a chat too.

Of Fauci’s appearance, Tubridy said:

“[US President Trump] Has pretty much taken him off the TV so that he doesn’t outshine him, because, actually, Fauci is trusted and liked. And that’s why, in some ways, Fauci is available to talk to us tomorrow night, because Trump doesn’t want him anywhere near American TV. So, I’ll talk to him.”

“Imagine trying to protect the health of an enormous nation like that while being undermined by your own president… I mean, it is impossible. But Fauci, Dr Fauci, has handled himself with such dignity and skill and professionalism and courtesy; it is extraordinary how he keeps going. It is amazing. I look forward to his company no end.”

Good lord.

    Ah here, we’re supposed to be a nation of incredible artists and songwriters, no need to be promoting such garbage as those two, like how did it come to this?

      Well…

      1) A huge proportion of people have absolutely rubbish taste in music and culture in general.

      2) Also, the opinion that we’re “a nation of incredible artists and songwriters” is just pants that we tell ourselves. We’re good, but are we any better than other nations?

      For example, the UK tramples us on nearly EVERY level when it comes to musicianship / songwriting etc.

      We love getting a pat on the head. It’s the same reason we get upset when the UK claims an Irish person as one of their own.

      Nationalistic rubbish IMO.

        Except a very large proportion of UK artists are of close Irish extraction. That said, we love blowing smoke up our own rear end on this. We are actually a cold place for creative endeavour in general and Turigity is a prime example of promoting vacuous talentless nabobs.. the LLS is unwatchable with him there..

          Agreed on Tubs and the supports given to Irish artists. Almost all funding goes to the big boys.

          But, I think any argument that calls for the association of someone talents to their genetic inheritance or the geographical location of their birth is flawed.

          Actually, you could argue that the only reason the Irish have done well in music is because we sing in the English language and we appeal to the UK & US.

          Unpopular opinion I know, but probably true.

            The British certainly are the most musically prolific country in the world. Look at the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s almost every massive/ culturally important band came from Britain. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Kinks, Pink Floyd, The Who, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Bowie, T-Rex, Kate Bush, Sex Pistols, The Clash ….etc. It’s incredible!

      Regardless of how one feels about masks, he’s probably one of the most famous public officials in the world at the moment, so it’s a good get for Tubs.

      Good guest but Tubs, as usual, will insist on eschewing having a conversation while he constantly interrupts the guest so that he can get through all the questions on his RTE sanctioned list. It’s painful to watch.

        It was clear that Fauci has been pushed to one side for months. Probably won’t fire him before the election though and hopefully won’t be in a position to do it after.

        To be fair you also predicted that the other two would have no problem letting Eamon Ryan be Tanaiste.

    Fauci seems like a nice guy, but you don’t have to diig too hard to see he is totally discredited.

    I think he got the benefit of the doubt for too long on the basis that if Trump doesn’t like him, then he must be a good guy.

      In a country that runs a for profit Healthcare system, it is hard to be involved in a life long career in medical science without making a move to work for a big Pharmacy brand of some kid at some point. That’s America! Ultra capitalism. Fauci is a good man who was unfortunate to be called up to help out in a Pandemic during the most divisive presidency and divisive time in recent history

          If that’s accurate I don’t understand why Trunp would want to get rid of him? ‘Hyping a rushed vaccine’ is probably the highest qualification a Trump health appointee could possibly have.

            Everything Trump does in this area is to avoid responsibility for his response and the still-rising death toll and to push the idea of a rushed vaccine being ready before his first term is over while simultaneously pushing community immunity without a vaccine AND downplaying the virus, blaming China, blaming Biden, blaming blue states, blaming the CDC, blaming Fauci, I’d nearly put a tenner on him blaming global warming by November, outside chance of him blaming Jedward, all the while holding superspreader rallies.
