Ireland Covid Hospital Cases
4 Aug 2020:
Hospital: 14
ICU: 5
Vaccines: 04 Aug 2021:
Hosp: 186
ICU: 29
Vaccines: 5,903,118That’s 6 times more in ICU and 13 times more in Hospital than this time last year.
And this is summer. What will winter bring?— DB (@raggedlines) August 4, 2021

‘I am getting extraordinary abuse for this tweet (above). For the record, it’s government data. If I’m going to be vilified for interpretations of it I didn’t make I might as well give my actual interpretation of it. I think there are broadly four possible explanations for these figures:
1. Scary delta – more cases, more hospitalisations
2. Vaccines aren’t having much of a national impact
3. Vaccines are harmful
4. People are finally returning to hospitals and those increased numbers are being miscast as Covid cases when they’re there for something else.I’m mostly number 4. I think 2 is true insofar as there is no *sign* of the vaccines having a national impact in any of these figures. That impact might exist but it isn’t visible yet. I see nothing substantial to support 3 at this time. As for number 1, Delta is commonly said to be less virulent and our increased cases are said to be mainly among the young. So do we think all these extra cases in hospital are unvaccinated young people? I don’t think so.’
Anyone?
Meanwhile…
Did you expect this time last year that most people would be double vaxxed but still measures in place, almost impossible to travel, masks in shops, supermarkets and transport, and fear all around?

“We should discuss a mastering seesion, maybe Tuesday next week” – a big pile of you-know-what show,,,
Almost impossible to travel? No it isn’t. Fear everywhere? No, just in the imaginations of covid deniers.
“Covid Deniers” Ha-ha-ha-ha!
correct George but only if you interpret the Guidelines in a way which suits
Could it be down to the fact that about this time last year we were testing about 30K a week and now we’re testing 130K a week (at least we were before the cyber hack – could be more now)
https://covid19ireland-geohive.hub.arcgis.com
I’d imagine many of those are tested in hospital every week.
Anecdotally, I went to A&E in July last year and there was no PCR test offered or given.
My wife went to A&E a few months ago in 2021 and she was tested.
Even though both of us weren’t admitted overnight.
“I’d imagine many of those are tested in hospital every week.”
You imagine a lot of things.
Its overwhelmighly hospitalised & covid rather than hospitalised with/for covid.
Tested on entry and it bumps up the statistics.
The other factor is lockdown fatigue – NPIs are no longer as effective in Ireland so we could never get the cases as low.
Where are you getting your info from? The HSE say the opposite. When anyone is in hospital and has covid creates a lot of extra work and demands on resources regardless of the reason they are in.
Ireland came out of lockdown in summer 2020 with an average of 10 daily cases. Summer 2021 there was 500.
September 2020 cases were up to 250 a day which was 25 times an increase compared to a 4 times the increase this summer.
The vaccines work. Cases are rising as fast. Vast majority of people who are vaccinated have little to worry about when you look at cases that result in hospitalisations are worse
The guy who tweeted the OP was right in his figures but short sighted with his analysis.
I can only imagine DB isn’t as stupid as this, knows about the daily cases, a very key metric, but chose to cherry pick data to suit his/her bonkers view. Or maybe be they are that stupid.
Great so, I’m sure the people working in hospitals and having to deal with covid positive patients are reassured by your analysis. Clearly you aren’t short sighted at all…
“I am getting extraordinary abuse for this tweet” – go on, go on DB, you’re loving the attention.
+1 Precisely. And of course it’s an anonymous account.
What’s he or she (we have no idea who is behind the account) afraid of? To me his or her figures are correct but the analysis and conclusions, well they aren’t exactly rigourous.

I just enjoyed that Twitter deemed a factual text with HSE figures as “misleading”.
Some algorithm has misclassified the tweet as anti-vax.
“Cases” are positive RTPCR test results, these tests cannot detect any virus. They’re a Joke.
Sure thing, Doctor.
On Ivermectin Poising… wait for the studies to finish folks before taking experimental medicine …

” Covid “truthers” might be averse to to getting vaccinated and wearing masks, but they are willing treat their Covid infections by drinking horse-strength tubes of medication meant to deworm horses.
Indeed, as reported by The Daily Beast, anti-vaxxers are now pursuing ivermectin for equine, also known as “horse paste,” an anti-parasitic medication that protects horses and livestock from worms and other parasites. Ivermectin is occasionally prescribed to humans to treat parasites (in its human-dose form) and studies are investigating its effects on treating and preventing coronavirus, though none have been conclusive.
Still, some medical groups continue to push it, including America’s Frontline Doctors, of which Dr. Stella Emmanuel, the Trump-approved conspiracy theorist who said women are impregnated by “demon sperm” in their sleep and alien DNA is used in medicine, is a member.
One pharmacist told The Daily Beast that their pharmacy had been “inundated with ivermectin prescriptions” from this very group, despite the lack of clinical convictions regarding its effectiveness.
But human ivermectin medication can be hard to come by, especially since it’s not yet been approved to treat Covid. Thus, we’re presented with a horse-sized problem: People are simply opting to purchase ivermectin medication meant for species three-times their size.
Ivermectin for horses and livestock is easy to find at tractor and animal supply stores, both in the form of paste — and, well, injection, (…do they not see the irony?) but because a dose meant for a horse is obviously significantly larger than one intended for humans, people are unintentionally poisoning themselves.
A Texas-based poison control specialist, who spoke on the condition of anonymity out of fear of repercussions, told The Daily Beast that “there is certainly a noticeable increase in calls to poison centers regarding ivermectin being misused.”
“It’s clear that a vast majority are associated with a belief that it will prevent or treat COVID. That said, I do want to be careful not to be sensational—there’s no epidemic of ivermectin overdoses in hospitals, but it’s needless suffering given the lack of conclusive evidence of a benefit,” they added.
The Daily Beast also uncovered several Facebook users suggesting others use the drugs developed specifically for stallions, even if doctors advise otherwise. “Personally I haven’t had this situation, but if I did, I would sneak horse paste into the hospital and would rub it into the armpit myself to save my loved one,” one ivermectin Facebook group member told another. Devotees have also taken to Amazon, where patrons can purchase horse ivermectin sans prescription, writing cryptic reviews about using it for themselves. “My ‘horse’ had no negative side effects, and now he tells me he feels like a million bucks and is now Covid-free,” one buyer wrote. “If you are intelligent enough to be able to weigh yourself and smart enough to do fractions you can do this safely,” said another.
Still, despite what these Facebook and Amazon “experts” might claim — taking horse ivermectin is legitimately dangerous. “This is actually the primary situation we get called about,” the poison control worker said.
“The big headache for poison control centers is that people are circumventing their physician and going to animal supply stores and acquiring ivermectin which can be purchased without a prescription with the understanding it’s for large animal veterinary use only.”
“This form of ivermectin is a 1.87% paste [in delicious apple flavor]—it’s so concentrated because it’s formulated for 1,500-pound horses, not humans,” they continued. “Unless someone knows what they’re doing, it’s very easy to overdose on the paste.”
So please, we are begging you: Please stop taking medicine meant for horses, and consult a reputable medical professional. “
All your demonstrating here (again) is your inability to discern valid journalism from low-level hit-piece propaganda. Why not seek out more authoritative sources like the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, a group of highly published, world-renowned critical care physicians and scholars?

Right on cue. Do you lie in wait anticipating a Covid story before pouncing? There’s no great conspiracy here. Maybe move onto Aliens?
Keywords for your next project:
Roswell, Majestic-12, Aurora, Venus, Uruanus (you’ve spent so much time and effort up there it should be familiar to you).
Night.
In a thread about Covid, and a comment about ivermectin, F_ responds to a sensationalist piece, and you ask if he lies in waiting…. LOL!
And having read down through the comments in this post, I see only one looked like someone appeared to be… in waiting, in fairness.
Ah Clampers! Thread was open, I popped in. And while yes, I take your point I am tired of seeing misinformation about Covid and associated (medically unproven) treatments spun as truth or part of some great conspiracy on this forum.
Broadsheet has done a full 180 Gemmtrails in the last 17 months. It’s been a gradual 180 but it’s there.
I realise ce’s comment was about Ivermectin, but this is a rather horrible story about people taking the wrong sort of medicine and doing themselves serious harm in the process, because of a propaganda campaign and a pathological political extremism that demonises appropriate medicine and hypes an unproven alternative. Given your interests in narratives and propaganda and its effects and outcomes, it’s weird that you would swerve away from such an extraordinary and directly harmful case.
Horses dealing ivermectin, they already have the market cornered on special K, horse and now ivermectin what’s next fraudulent vaccine passes? Necks like a jockeys b*****

Outbreak of crisis acting in NI…
https://www.irishtimes.com/news/health/first-covid-linked-death-of-child-under-15-recorded-in-north-1.4640598
Covid “linked”. They are very sketchy stats Nisra uses.
One cannot say from the info provided that that is a death due to covid.
Need more info.
People not interested in Data unless it fits their exact narrative, CSO IRE released their data for 2019/20. Median age covid death around 85yrs, nearly as many deaths from suicide as covid and drastically more lives lost from cancer(many forms of cancer are attributed to air borne pollutants). Gov or media may have used it as a resource but I have yet to see it discussed, it is genuine data that can be used to evaluate future and present trends and risks. CDC have just released interesting data finding that people with a pre-condition of obesity are at highest overall risk of complications leading to hospitalization or death, people with a pre-condition of asthma are far less likely to encounter the same complications and need for intervention in comparison, it is a test study of over 500,000 patients https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cccSHUckGSQ&fbclid=IwAR3P-0dy1LRYC7OqWKS2Ko8wotkvw4iL8AscM46AkcroD9cpaa80dyc77A0.
This guy is also very thorough, here he looks at the data for long covid risks in children etc.. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hqc_Dzx9P2Y&fbclid=IwAR1qhJ8zNRYyr0nFIqJMcIH_i7mNcaAIwe6L8Ypq_jYHxWW8_z_Mkzj4t90)
