Blame It On The Sunshine

Blame it on the moonlight

Blame it on the good times.

Do not, under any circumstances, blame it on the experimental, gene-altering, clot-making boogie.

“The academics examined almost 40,000 cardiovascular disease deaths among people aged 60 to 69 in England and Wales between 2001 and 2015”

    Embarrassing, Bodger

Strange timing, I dont recall half as much reporting about X Y and Z giving me heartattacks back in the day

        1. Nigel

Q can’t even prove Trump really won the election or that Central Park is full of tunnels packed with abused children, you can hardly expect him to prove the causes of heart attacks.

Sad, really, the poor dude goes straight to hysterical ranting, from the off. I think it’s getting worse than it used to be. He would wait until he was overwhelmed with dissent, previously, before resorting to hyperbole. He sounds panicked.
            Get Well Soon, Nigel.

It’s been very rapid, this promotion of the multitude of normal, everyday occurances that heart problems can be blamed on. All of them entirely based on this incorrect idea that heart attacks are caused by stressful events or shocks rather than physical, medical problems.
The media have clearly got the public’s measure, the last two years have exposed how credulous the majority are. It seems a large percentage of people have no internal monologue, they merely react to stimuli, like bacteria or some other simple life form.

In future, you’ll probably find that a lot of the answers to the questions you’re Just Asking are to be found in the very mainstream media sources you link in your posts. FYI

          2. Bodger

Trolling is the number one cause of blood clots among friendless single men who live alone, experts claim.

    2. K.Cavan

Cling, Commenter#1, cling to your liferaft. Convince yourself, it’s the most important thing, denial.

  2. Nigel

I suppose it could also be related to the highly contagious airborne virus that’s been going round, if you were casting about for other possible causes that is.

This reminds me if Gay Byrne on the radio on a report about older men on holiday in Spain who were getting too much sun and drink then getting heart attacks while having sex. Maybe that was the vaccine too?

    1. Commenter #1

Nope: study looks at deaths between 2001-2015. Nothing to do with COVID, vaccines, etc

      1. Nigel

Thought Gay Byrne on the radio might have been a clue: this was in the early nineties, as in connecting hotter weather and older men to heart attacks is long-standing knowledge.

          1. Nigel

Yes. Although, of course, with climate change heat waves are getting more extreme, so it is a very current issue.

    2. K.Cavan

Straight for a clutch. Where did you put your straws, Nigel. I mean, Gay Byrne? When was that & how come you remember it?
Heart attacks are caused by medical problems, even if trauma can trigger them. Most myocardial infarction occurs when people are not doing anything strenuous or overextending themselves, that’s a movie cliché, not real life & the activity is not the cause of the problem, as the media are now trying to imply.

Just as well today is our last day on this idyllic sunshine isle.
What japes and persiflage we have enjoyed.
Back to Blighty for a few days to take care of some UK business and then home to gorgeous Galway.
Tbh though, I could stay another month out here.
    Marvellous™

“ Tbh though, I could stay another month out here.”
Mittyworld – you can stay as long as you want, and you do.
The bedsit in Cork is an idyllic isle alright.

Various articles doing the rounds too attributing a recent surge in heart attacks in women to a rare syndrome known as “Broken Heart Syndrome” supposedly brought on by the stress of the pandemic

    https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/broken-heart-syndrome-surging-among-201500838.html
‘ “Broken Heart Syndrome” Is Surging Among Women — And It’s Way More Serious Than It Sounds’

    As for the young people:

    https://www.thesun.co.uk/health/18042716/warning-more-20s-suffer-deadly-strokes-signs-never-ignore/
“People in their 20s have been urged to learn the deadly signs of a stroke after an uptick in cases in younger adults.”

The article attributes it to lifestyle.

    1. Nigel

Pandemic truthers suddenly discovering the genre of ‘everything will kill you’ health journalism and reeading a siinister pattern into is kinda funny.

        1. Mad

          Amusing?

Shrouded in bathos I would have thought!
It was amusing though when he accused Giggidy of the same

‘Commenter whe’s always on about challenging narratives hates it when his narrative is challenged.’

        3. K.Cavan

I don’t think it’s anything too deep-seated, flawless, I get the impression it’s reactive. If the Lego blocks are falling around his head, he needs to reach out & smite the messenger, he’s the type of guy who’ll continue to believe that everything is normal, no matter how abnormal things get, so it’s those who are pointing out anomalies that he blames for the anomalies.
Definitely coming across as more hysterical than he used to be, though, he’s a canary in the coalmine. The louder be screams “everything is normal!” the less normal you can be sure they are.

      1. K.Cavan

Well, in a way, it’s a good thing that someone is getting a laugh out of it but you’d imagine it’s hysterical laughter, brought on by fear, rather than humour. You’re a full-time denier, now, Nigel, have you been having chest pains, yourself? The stress of all that denying…

        1. Nigel

That’s an odd claim about me, given that the apparent point of the post above is to deny that warmer weather can controbute to heart attacks in older people, which is hardly particularly new or controversial.

  5. Steph Pinker

Bodger, why don’t you use your newshound avatar anymore?

No need to reply, just wondering, i.e. being nosey!

      1. Nigel

Cavan: Nigel you’re a full time denier.
Also Cavan: there’s no such thing as heatwaves.

        1. K.Cavan

You really are an extraordinarily irrational lad, Nigel. Your average comment & seemingly, your entire thought process seems based on rational fallacies. I mean, what’s the point of criticising things I didn’t say? Anyone who can read your comment can read mine.
This must be a persona you adopt on here?
Could anyone function in society when any random remark about the weather to them garnered an accusation of climate change denial or an aside about Biden’s dementia brought accusations of being a Trump supporter?
Cos that’s you, Nigel, that is.

          1. Nigel

            ‘ I mean, what’s the point of criticising things I didn’t say?’

You tell me, you base most of your comments on stuff people didn’t say, then claim you didn’t say stuff you actually said.

  6. Dinkum

    Jesus frigging Christ.
We cannot even enjoy the sun without being told we are going to drop like flies when we hit old age.
I can see it now the new dyson sleeping machine that is designed like a coffin with a separate climate controlled filter for one’s fangs .
So live your life and ensure you spend every penny you can before you pop your clogs .
