Brain Dead Biden’s popularity continues to plummet and his Veep is even more hated by the voters.
If the next presidential election were held today, former President Donald Trump would defeat President Biden by six percentage points and Vice President Kamala Harris by 11 percentage points, according to a new poll.
The mid-terms are going to be a disaster for the Democrats and if these polling figures continue Trump will be sorely tempted to run again, particularly as he’s got a war chest full of donations.
The Afghan debacle was the beginning of the end for Sleepy Joe.
Americans hate being humiliated on the world stage.

At least the queen still loves Andrew the paedophile! OK, OK, pederast if you want to be pedantic about the princely paedo!

How many marathons and how much to charity do you calculate Andrew needs to counter out his crimes?

Does the very large payment he made to the girl he never met for something he claims never to have done count or does he need to dress Jimmy Saville style (the cad!) in a 70’s tracksuit and start fresh? Maybe a lands end to John O’Groats for a start? Be a handy way to get young girls to go bed on schoolnights, ”off to bed with you young miss or randy prince andy pandy will come calling!”

What does this have to do with an opinion poll in the US ?

Oh no! You’ve put an extra ‘l’ in to his surname. Charger Sallmons will think that’s a great point worth arguing.

Yes, it’s gas the way the queen parades around with him as if he did nothing. But sure, that’s blighty for you – the dregs of which move here into damp bedsits in Blackpool, Cork, getting up to all sorts. Anything to divert from the sewer that blighty is.

        1. Ian - oG

The queen was trafficked herself, not that they like to admit that.

Same with Diana, but they killed her because A) how very dare she and B) she had the audacity to hang out with a darkie. We see the same again with Kate of the botox smile.

Also, what do you get if you cross the queen and prince philip?

Speaking of paedophiles, what’s the general view of the normie “believe everything the media says” brigade on here after the NY Times piece acknowledging the Hunter Biden laptop is real? Saw some images from that laptop last night. Anyone who attacked that story for the past year is in the same league as those who defended Saville. The guy was with pre pubescent kids. Extremely disturbing stuff. Will those who laughed and mocked those who rightly called it as real from day one acknowledge their mistake, or dig in further. We’ll see. Trump derangement syndrome has these people actively defending the name and honour of a rampant child molester.

        1. TenPin Terry

          Precisely.
Once again the liberal mainstream and social media in the US has flushed its reputation even further down the toilet over the Hunter laptop affair.
A concerted and flagrant effort to bury the truth and attack the New York Post for publishing the scoop has come back to bit it squarely on the backside.
Twitter blocked the story, citing its policy barring “hacked materials,” then suspended the New York Post’s account for sharing it. Facebook allowed sharing but downranked the story in the news feed algorithms.
The Republicans don’t really have to do anything now except sit back and watch the mental detorioration of Sleepy Joe and the train crash that is Dippy Dingbat Harris.

        2. Nigel

Some emails on the laptop were declared ‘real.” Nothing else. Since emails can be hacked, it’s meaningless – well, it means you’ll believe anything.

          1. TenPin Terry

You know no-one really believes these excuses don’t you ?
If there was nothing on the laptop why were the Woodward and Bernstein wannabes so desperate to bury the story ?
More to follow, as they say.
            TRUMP 2024.

          2. Nigel

Since they’re not really excuses, the people who believe this will believe anything, either because they’re credulous or they’re cynical. After all, if you find the string of occurences and the individuals involved in this laptop story more believeable than somebody’s emails getting hacked, then you’re just committed to spreading a story, not the truth.

How can Donald run again? He won the last election didn’t he? Can’t have third term.

There is no way the Russians will allow the USA to get credit from any peace agreement
Maybe Putins pal Abromavitch is the key as to that the real deal will be done with the Turks brokering the peace deal .

A good nights work for Poland – World Cup qualification courtesy of their suitably attired captain fantastic Robert Lewandowski and along with the Czech republic they’ve told the odious Oban (pal of the chicken(out) of Kyiv Putra) that he could shove his electioneering photo op shindig up planned for tomorrow up his ar$e

Lewandowski could bring them to the quarters easily. Just needs a good run in the early matches. What a player.

Central Bank tells banks to be vigilant with new customers falling into arrears. Given the overpriced houses, the massive increase in energy bills (Electricity/Oil etc.), the increasing interest rates, buyers should do a bit of copping on to themselves and not allow themselves be sucked into the rat race to get on the property ladder at all costs. ‘At all costs’ will mean exactly that for some.
Interesting that the Central Bank have referred to ‘new customers’ falling into arrears. That’s a warning shot across the bows for potential new customers.

    1. Kali

With the current rent rates, you can’t blame people for wanting their own house. They’d pay half on a mortgage what they would on rent. Maybe that was FFFGs plan to boost the market. Bubble 2.0 could pop in the next few years the way things are going

      1. GiggidyGoo

Of course people want their own place and are paying way above what a mortgage costs.
The difference though is that with a mortgage you’re tied in with an institution for 25+years. If things go wrong and jobs are lost and house prices fall, that puts people in a precarious situation. We saw it last time round.
With renting, yes you’re paying more, but a long term commitment (25+ years for instance) isn’t there. You can move anytime and won’t have banks chasing you.
Once housing comes back to a realistic level of pricing – and it will – then that’s the time to buy.

Think it’s bad now? It’s going to be really tight for the next few years, austerity by another name really.

Also note the latest scam of auto enrolment into pensions. This will be yet another disaster and before I am accused of being a conspiracy theorist, look at who is bringing it in and ask yourself where they will be when the first recipients find that A) they have to work to at least or probably past 70 to avail of it, B) it will likely die with you so if you get hit by a bus or whatever, nice little bonus for the state and C) it will be taxed to the hilt once you get it.

Now I could be wrong about the above but here’s the rub, Leo, Michelin, Humphries etc. will all either be retired comfortably or dead by the time a lot of us find out the above or potentially even worse and those in power will shrug and say it was a previous generation.

My advice is to opt out if possible and stick your money in a mattress. I am quite clueless when it comes to finance myself, all the above is what a friend of mine working in personal finance for nearly 30 years was telling me are strong possibilities here so not a completely hot take.

      1. Fergalito

If it’s done properly the scheme should provide a death benefit for survivors and will be subject to the existing tax regime for pension payments with a tax free lump sum up to €200k. You’re right about the 70 bit.

Certainly not making apologies for something which should have happened a long time ago and we’ll see how it is to be operated when the small print is published. One can hope. If it’s done well like the Aussie “superann” then it will at least ensure that retirement is provided for to some extent.

My fear would be that those who are Trustees for the plan will make a balls of it or cream too much of the pensions buttermilk for their balance sheets.

        1. Ian - oG

You said: ”If it’s done properly”.

          That’s the rub, isn’t it?

”My fear would be that those who are Trustees for the plan will make a balls of it or cream too much of the pensions buttermilk for their balance sheets.”

One might be excused for thinking that this just couldn’t happen but then you see how many ex NAMA staff appeared to make out like bandits in the private sector with knowledge clearly gleaned from their time with the agency you know that already there are those licking their lips at the thought of all that cream.

So no thanks. What have I been paying PRSI for all this time? I have precisely zero to show for it? Like literally nothing, I just looked up what it is meant to cover and after nearly 30 years of my working like I am not sure if I have ever received any sort of remuneration for all those payments, like nothing at all, zero, zilch, nada?

Very frustrating but not at all a surprise.

          1. Fergalito

Ah yeah – i totally agree, i’m just thinking out loud about how it might operate at a basic level if it were done properly. Of course bitter experience indicates that a hames will be made of something that would be quite simple to get right and actually be of benefit.

I think the intention is that those in a certain income bracket only will have to participate but with an opt-out option after a certain period.

In fairness to Class A PRSI – far from ideal – doesn’t it cover you for Maternity Benefit, Illness Benefit, Jobseeker’s Benefit, Carer’s Benefit, Eye-Test/Dental-Check-Up, Paternity Benefit, State Pension, Survivor’s Pension among other things? I’m not an apologist or saying it’s a precision engineered system but it’s not as crap as it could be (or as good as it could be). An issue I suppose is with the rates of payment and the quality of services provided (free healthcare anyone!?). Ultimately i guess if you want to provide for yourself you provide for yourself and don’t rely on the State to keep you in the lifestyle to which you’ve become accustomed or needs you may in time have to rely on.

            Carry on …

          2. Ian - oG

Ah I get you Fergalito, I just cannot figure out what PRSI has given back to me after all these years? Couldn’t even get bloody paternity leave and payroll where I work was perplexed as I was clearly qualified and applied in good time? But no, over a year back and forth and eventually I just dropped it, had to use my own annual leave and some unpaid leave as well FFS.

As for dental work, I would have imagined you would have to supply them with your PRSI number to glean some sort of subsidy to the cost but nope, never asked for or given it?

I dunno, I’ve just accepted the mantra ‘if it’s to be, it’s up to me’ in this life, I expect nothing from the state and I am hard pressed to find what it has given back to me outside the bare minimun like roads to drive on (and pay a toll on top of that), a healthcare system that I bypass by paying my own private insurance and police to not show up after I was burgled and assaulted, yay!

      2. jonjoker

I wonder whether the state will run this, or will the day-to-day running be sold off to somebody’s friend, I mean be contracted out to a well-run financial institution to run?

The British Independent’s spinning knows no bounds.

The Nazis killed their families. Now Odesa’s Holocaust survivors fear Putin will do the same.

Putin’s relationship with the Russian Jewish community is very strong, so much so that he has the vocal support of Russia’s chief rabbi Berel Lazar- as well as half a dozen Jewish oligarchs.

Ukraine on the other hand, has a military riddled with Nazis who would quite happily cut the throat of every Jew in the country if they had a chance- pretty sure it is not Putin the Jews are worried about.

    1. Rob_G

“Putin’s relationship with the Russian Jewish community is very strong, so much so that he has the vocal support of Russia’s chief rabbi Berel Lazar- as well as half a dozen Jewish oligarchs.”

      – what do you think happens to oligarchs and head rabbis that don’t vocally support Putin?

It’s genuinely troubling to see someone who used to be an occasionally insightful poster with a nuanced view on things slip further and further down the rabbit hole of conspiracy and far-right propaganda.

      1. SOQ

If taking into account the opinions of publications like The Jerusalem Post is slipping “further and further down the rabbit hole of conspiracy and far-right propaganda”- then so be it. The Jews are not people to be pushed around.

        https://www.jpost.com/diaspora/putin-not-remotely-antisemitic-says-russias-chief-rabbi-546556

Putin may not be a nice man but he is a very smart man and there is solid reasons why the likes of South Africa- most of Africa actually- have come out in support of Russia now.

That you can’t be bothered looking at both sides of the Ukrainian situation, really is your own problem.

        1. Nigel

          Another view from Israel:
          https://www.timesofisrael.com/why-putin-uses-wwii-the-holocaust-and-nazis-to-justify-his-war-with-ukraine/

Maybe if he bombs a few more Holocaust memorials and kills a few more Holocaust survivors you’ll start to question Putin’s motives.

As for not pushing Jewish people around, Putin found that out when Ukraine’s Jewish president proved to not be a walkover.

Also you might ant to consider the history of Jews fleeing Russia to Israel.

      2. Broadbag

Russia is the 2nd largest source of tourists to Israel (US is first). There’s also a huge influx of medical tourists from Russia into Israel. Money talks, not to mention Israel needs all the powerful friends it can get due to it’s isolated position in the middle east.

‘A massive Antarctic ice shelf that covered an area about the size of New York City or Rome just collapsed into the ocean. Scientists warn that while they do not expect significant impacts as a result of this event, melting ice in this historically stable region may be a foreboding sign of things to come.’

    https://www.livescience.com/antarctica-conger-ice-shelf-collapse

For context – this is the first recorded collapse of an Antarctic ice shelf.

    1. Broadbag

This is what I’m taking from that: ”they do not expect significant impacts as a result of this event”

…the recent reading of a temperature 40°C higher than expected in antarctic and 30°C higher in the arctic are very worrying – soon we won’t be around to dispute anything…

Dear Jesus, what is the world becoming.

Imagine getting into debt so you can eat?
