Saudi’s General Authority of Civil Aviation must have its head buried in the sand following the award of the management of Jeddah airport to a subsidiary of DAA..
Clearly the Saudis are not aware of or doesn’t care about the level of mismanagement by the DAA of security at Dublin Airport in the recent past which has caused untold disruption and resulted in great inconvenience to many travellers going through Dublin Airport.
Not only that but the DAA has admitted that this disruption and inconvenience will continue indefinitely. How’s that for “being on top of your game”?

Difference is there are tougher ‘consequences’ for messing up in Saudi Arabia, may sharpen the minds of those in charge, I wouldn’t be surprised if they suddenly up their game compared to the pathetic service here.
Yep if you loose your job and owe the bank money and they find out you have lost your job they phone immigration and you are arrested at the airport and held until your debts are paid in full
So if you loose your job you better just leave the country while you can

The fear of a fine used to be the main driver for short security queues in Dublin Airport because the management are driven by profit generation first and providing us with a well managed airport second.
the core part of the business, landing, parking and taking off of planes only generates something like 33% of the revenue.
there is more focus on generating revenue from car parking, property leasing, duty free here and abroad, management of other airports, building a ‘sustainable’ new airport in the desert and planning for an airport campus to facilitate 55 million passengers that will never be needed.
they need to get back to the basics of providing good service

Why would you bother your backside to get to work for a shift that starts or ends in the middle of the night for such a pittance?
Dalton Phillips, DAA CEO, speaking on the RTÉ news at 1 seemed to think those wages, terms and conditions were absolutely fine. He repeatedly mentioned the importance of the role and the fact that the positions paid 35% more than minimum wage.
he’s a retail guy, previously sacked from his role as CEO of UK supermarket Morrissons and was CEO at Brown Thomas. He also has a directorship with a retail delivery robotics company – it’s time for him to move on and get an experienced aviation person who will focus fully on the job back in charge
