From Weird Beauty – a photo series by Russian photographer Alexander Khokhlov in collaboration with make-up artist Valeriya Kutsan, who was ‘denied any colour but black and white’ Khokhlov sez:

The experiment should prove that usual simple forms, familiar things or characters can be a main part of wonderful beauty looks. Model faces in this project are not just canvases for the face-arts – they play their own role in each photo with different parts.

With its development of Cheetahbot still ongoing, DARPA sez:

In this video, the Pet-Proto, a predecessor to DARPA’s Atlas robot, is confronted with obstacles similar to those robots might face in the DARPA Robotics Challenge (DRC). To maneuver over and around the obstacles, the robot exercises capabilities including autonomous decision-making, dismounted mobility and dexterity.

Next stage: a robot that can navigate the same obstacles while simultaneously eating a kebab.

Illustrator James Gilleard’s sketches inspired by the unhinged expressions of the world’s most unhinged chihuahua in a famous episode of The Ren and Stimpy Show, produced for Chicago Gallery 27’s Nickelodeon Show, which opens next month.

The scene in question is where Ren returns home to find his house trashed (which happens from around 4.00 in the second video above).

Never mind that. watch the whole thing from start to finish.

The Cat Laughs Festival

She’s not like other cats.

Justine writes:

I know you don’t normally do this but this cat, Miss Ellie, is missing from Cabra East, Dublin, since October 9. Cats go missing every day – finding them can be difficult, because they can all look the same. But Miss Ellie is not like other cats.  she is missing an eye, and the tip of one of her ears, and she breaths like Darth Vader – you can hear her coming from a distance. Cats can travel miles when they are lost. If you have seen Miss Ellie please call Cat’s Aid on (01) 6683529
