What you may need to know.

1. After the bigscreen comeback, a smallscreen Muppet revival.

2. This time out, less guest stars, more muppets. Works for us.

3. Fact: We enjoyed underappreciated ’90s TV revival Muppets Tonight.

4. Here’s everything we know thus far.

5. Suggestion: Don’t have Ricky Gervais on.

6. Broadsheet Prognosis: The Muppets meets The Office, with a pinch of Larry Sanders. We’re in.

What you may need to know:

1. BBC event series ALERT!

2. It’s based on the book by Susanna Clarke. Which you should read immediately.

3. Who doesn’t love Eddie Marsan? We want him to do a buddy comedy with Stephen Graham.

4. Marsan has worked with Martin Scorsese, Michael Mann, Steven Spielberg, Terrence Malick, Woody Allen, Alejandro González Iñárritu, J.J. Abrams, Peter Berg, Guy Ritchie, Richard Linklater AND Mike Leigh. Seriously. More importantly, he was also in Grange Hill.

5. @ ’16 Anyone remember Dennis Pennis?

6. Broadsheet Prognosis: Does anyone even go to the movies any more?

Release date: Coming soon.

3. Steve Coogan, lest we forget, is now ‘Oscar-nominee Steve Coogan’.

4.
Watch them discuss the italian Trip at length here. Steve Coogan talks a lot.

5. And yes, they do Michael Caine again.

Veep-Season-3-Poster-HBO

What you may need to know:

1. Veep got a rough ride critically during its first season, primarily because Armando Iannucci‘s first US show wasn’t a remake of The Thick Of It. He’s smarter than that.

2. Here’s the thing: it’s a different show altogether. More sitcom-like, broader, sillier and – dare we say – occasionally funnier. If you haven’t given it a bash yet, gorge thyself immediately.

3. The second season rocked harder, thanks to a whip-smart ensemble led by the truly incomparable Julia Louis Dreyfus.

4. What’s more, the put downs just keep getting better. Malcolm Tucker would be proud of this gem.

Screening Date: April (US)

What you really need to know:

1. The first season of Veep rocked.

2. Julia-Louis Dreyfus is a goddess.

4. It’s not the American Thick Of It, although we keep expecting Malcolm Tucker to turn up.

5. They did a pilot for an American version of The Thick Of It. Apparently it’s HORRIBLE.

6. Armando Iannucci has been involved with more genius comedy than any individual this side of Graham Linehan and/or Limerick TD Willie ‘Working For You’ O’Dea.

Screening Date: April (US)
