Sorry we’re late.

*shuffles*

We’ve sent you four lovingly crafted, pan-sexual cards by Dublin architect-turned-quirky-cardmaker Colin Eaton.

Colin will make you a bespoke card for any occasion: colin@colineaton.ie.

He likes little aliens.

You could say it’s his ‘hallmark’.

We’ll see ourselves out.

Just wondering if you could give our illustration exhibition a plug today sometime – it’s in the Motorhouse Gallery in Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park [Dublin] and features work by 9 Dublin based illustrators. All of our previous Dublin shows have been in the Bernard Shaw, so this is a real step up and would love for people to come, it looks amazing!
We’re also selling Christmas cards, all proceeds from the cards will go to Barrretstown.
Opens this evening at 6.30pm – a perfect time to start horsing into free plonk – and runs till early January.

Architect and graphic designer Colin Eaton makes unique, one-off cards from recycled, reused and repurposed bits and pieces, personalised to fit not only the occasion [the first card is called ‘Come Back Sun’], but also the characteristics and interests of the recipient.

The last one was specially commissioned for Ewok.

CPU Wars ($8): a Top Trumps style card game in which you pit your 8088s against your opponent’s 64-bit multicores.

The 30 CPUs featured date from various periods.

You, of course, will remain dateless.

The game is ideally played by 2 or 3 people. The deck is split between the players and then each player takes a turn and picks a category that they think has the best value. We have chosen the most important specs that could be numerically represented, such as maximum speed achieved and maximum number of transistors. It’s lots of fun, it has a bit of strategy and can be played during a break or over a coffee.

THE OIREACHTAS spent more than €9,600 of taxpayers’ money on more than 200,000 customised Christmas cards that were distributed by TDs and Senators ahead of the recent festive season.

One of the perks Oireachtas members enjoy is the ability to avail of an “in-house” printing service allowing them to produce individualised cards they can send to constituents and others.

With well over half of TDs and Senators using the service, it appears that, in the age of Twitter and text messaging, old-fashioned Christmas cards remain attractive to politicians – despite the controversies they have given rise to in the past. An Oireachtas spokeswoman confirmed that 132 of the full 226 members of both houses had cards printed in-house, with a total of 217,020 cards produced at the end of last year.

Oireachtas Christmas cards cost taxpayers almost €10,000 (Irish Times)
