Architect and graphic designer Colin Eaton makes unique, one-off cards from recycled, reused and repurposed bits and pieces, personalised to fit not only the occasion [the first card is called ‘Come Back Sun’], but also the characteristics and interests of the recipient.
Inventor Izhar Gafni has built a bike called The Alfa with a virtually maintenance-free belt drive.
It weighs 9kg, can support the weight of three adults, cost between €7 and €9 to build and is entirely made of cardboard and other recycled materials. He sez:
The development to what you see today took three years. Two were spent just figuring out the cardboard complications–leading to several patents–and the last was spent converting a cardboard box on wheels to a relatively normal looking bike.
Gafni is currently looking to raise funds to put the Alfa into mass production.
