Launching the Dun Laoghaire [Co Dublin] Christmas Festival on Dun Laoghaire’s East Pier in “Husky weather” yesterday were from top: Lucia and Lenny with Snowy and above from left: Fionn, Lucia, Lenny, and Sophie with Ben

The Dun Laoghaire Christmas Festival runs between November 30-January 1 and includes a ‘Santa Hat world record’ attempt for Barnardo’s on December 21.

The current record stands at 872 santa hat wearers (assembled in America in 2010) which doesn’t sound completely unbeatable, in fairness. Enrolments here.

Dún Laoghaire Meets Berlin

Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company wants to create a floating pool and an urban beach facility, based on the Badeschiff facility in Berlin, above.

DLHC want to carry out the venture with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and they hope to have it up and running by 2015.

Tomorrow, the DLHC will release details of the public consultation process on the development.
