You may recall commentator Ger winning an AUTHENTIC Viking helmet for creating seven front page Battle of Clontarf headlines.
“I write children’s books and often visit schools and libraries to talk about them. I was invited this week to talk to the boys of 6th class in St Paul’s in North Brunswick Street (‘The Brunner’ of Paddy Crosbie fame) [Dublin] about my new ghost/rugby/historical/mystery novel, Rugby Warrior.
As their school is in the heart of the old Viking settlement of Oxmanstown, I thought the helmet would have a good home there, and the lads really appreciated it and everyone got a chance to wear it. So, thanks to Broadsheet and Dublin City Council, some modern Vikings will be roaming the Smithfield area with some suitable headgear.”
