In the mid-90s, before Sony designed the original Playstation they were developing a successor to the SNES with Nintendo. Apparently (see link below) 200 prototypes were built, but when the deal went sour, they were all destroyed – except for one (above) , which showed up in a dusty old box of bits recently. I’m still not entirely convinced this isn’t a fake, but if it’s not, it’s a really interesting piece of tech history.
