Stewarts Special School, Waterstown Avenue, Palmerstown Lower, Dublin 20.

Many pupils.

No playground.

Laura writes;

Stewarts School is a special education primary school that caters for children with a range of physical and intellectual disabilities, many of these children have severe and profound disabilities and need specialist care and equipment.

The school is moving to a new building in 2019 order to increase the capacity of students they can look after, but this move is leaving them without any playground or useable outside yard area.

As many of the students have physical disabilities they need a playground that includes very specialist equipment and the cost of an inclusive playground that will allow all the students the chance to play – regardless of their abilities or disabilities – is going to cost €200,000.

Stewarts is receiving no government funding at all for the playground so the mammoth task of raising 200k is being left to the families, teachers and special needs assistants of the 120 students.

These past few months the school has been working insanely hard trying to fundraise, doing everything they can from backpacking to marathon running and hosting various events, but they still have only made a small dent in their target.

I am hoping you might be able to share this video and their story, and help them reach their target.
