Maybe a little.

NEVER!

NiallC, of Dublin-based ‘creative solutions facility’ Noho writes:

“TODAY is the actual 1000 anniversary of the Battle of Clontarf. Here’s a short film we made, currently running in Dublinia as part of an exhibition on the battle there: Hopefully it gives a good (and historically accurate) view of how the city would have looked on this day 1000 years ago.”

Gabriel

[Gabriel Byrne, top] as Earl Haroldson In Vikings

Anne-Louise Foley writes:

[Vikings] begins in 8th century Scandinavia where Ragnar Lothbrok is a warrior and a farmer who dreams of finding riches by bucking the tradition of raiding to the east. Ragnar has been working in secret on a project that will turn the Viking world on its head. But first Ragnar must convince the leader of his community, the powerful Earl Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne) who is none too happy to share in the renown that this journey could bring to Ragnar if it’s successful.

Needs more horns

Vikings, which was filmed in Wicklow, begins on Sunday at 9.30pm on RTÉ Two.

Vikings

And by ‘viking’ we do mean like a pair of damn hipsters in natural ethical clothing.

Too perishing cool to wear horns that lot.

“‘Vikings’ hero Ragnar Lothbrok, above, is recruiting an army of paid extras for filming of Season 2 of the epic History Channel series this summer, and has his sights set on Wicklow and Dublin, this 5-7th June.
“Anyone who has spent months cultivating an unkempt beard or practising with a plastic sword in preparation for battle, your time has come.”

“Men and women without beards are also in high demand, with the call out for adults from all ethnic backgrounds, shapes and sizes – with preference given to anyone with relevant skills including fishermen, sailors, carpenters, butchers, craftspeople, blacksmiths and anyone who can wield a sword, axe or bow.”
