Ben Shorten, of RTÉ/Boston University’s College’s Century Ireland 1913-2013 project writes:

This Sunday, September 8 is the 100 year anniversary of the publishing of Yeats’ ‘September 1913’. It was printed in The Irish Times with the title ‘Romance in Ireland’.

This video gives a nice little background of the Art Gallery dispute. And interestingly, William Martin Murphy was the main opponent of Hugh Lane’s plan.

Minister Jimmy Deenihan announced today that he has received Cabinet approval for the full repair and conservation of 14-17 Moore Street, as well as the building of a commemorative centre there.
