Tag Archives: We Don’t Normally Do This

He built it.

I know you don’t normally do this but I’ve exhausted every other avenue. My bike got taken from the hall of my building [Lansdowne & Shelbourne Roads, Dublin] on Sunday morning. It’s a bike I built and have used daily for the last few years. I can’t afford to replace it at the moment so hoping someone may have seen it or found it and can return it.

It’s almost the same as the photo (above) but the front wheel is now black, the cranks and chainset are also now black the the grips are grey rubber. The most distinctive thing about it is the handlebars which are only around 8″ across. If anyone can help I’d be massively grateful.

Anyone?

I realise you don’t normally do this, but I’m fuming writing this email. I’m an avid angler and on Saturday went to a fishing expo in Swords, Co Dublin. This is one of the biggest shows of the year and is on in the National Show Centre. Unfortunately there have been a number of car break ins in their car park which is poorly policed. My own van
was targeted today and I’ve had a lot of my prized fishing tackle stolen. If you could put a picture of one item – my IMA lure vest, which is an unusual fishing/floatations vest it might alert anybody who sees it for sale around the country in the next few days. The vest contains a lot of unusual lures and gear which is of no use to anyone who is not as fanatical about shiny fishing gear like me.

Anyone?

You might have dropped these.

I know you don’t normally do this but I found this pair of glasses outside the Trinity Capital Hotel on Pearse Street [Dublin] at lunchtime….I’ll leave them into Pearse Steet Garda station later on. In the meantime they can be collected from where I work on Pearse St if the owner recognises them. Just drop me a mail with the phone number and I’ll get in touch.

Damn absent-minded, ironically severe designer eye-wear wearing hipster.

You may recall Hugh McDowell’s dog key drama yesterday.

Well.

I was strolling by Merrion Gates [Co Dublin] yesterday evening when a glimmer of silver caught my eye, wedged in against the road/pavement. Above is what I found? As a keen dog man, I had been intrigued by your post earlier In the day relating to lost keys. Could you pass on contact info for the guy who lost his keys?

Yay.

Update: It’s genuine

Hugh McDowell writes:

I know you don’t normally do this but this morning I cycled into work, along the Rock Road [Co Dublin], past Merrion Square, through Trinity and up to Tara Street. Along the way at some point my keys fell out of my pocket. They are fairly indistinguishable, except for a silver key ring that says ‘I (heart symbol) my dog’. I’m attaching a picture of said dog (Jack), who would be utterly distressed if I did not recover the keys (and that sort of stress is the last thing he needs at the ripe old age of 14 and a half). If anyone picked up those keys this morning, PLEASE let me know!

Anyone?

Chillaxe.

iPhone4 found in Cow’s Lane [Temple Bar, Dublin] at 8.30 this morning, but there was lots of rain on it so I’d say it’s been there over night. But it’s still working and currently charging (above). The person who owns it has a few meeting reminders popping up. I would like to get this back to the owner so if they could get in touch and tell me something about the phone so I know it’s theirs, that would be great.

Anyone?
