Warco is a first person shooter game where, rather than an arsenal of guns, the player – a war correspondent – wields a camera. The aim is to document trouble-spots around the world and edit the footage into news reels. Currently in development with no release date, the game is a collaboration between Brisbane game company Defiant Development, filmmaker Robert Connolly and journalist Tony Maniaty.
Record dramatic images of war, save them in-game, then edit the results into a compelling frontline TV news story. Beam the results to global audiences on the web. No two WARCO stories will ever be alike. It’s an edge-of-seat gaming experience – and a powerful entry-level training tool for future combat reporters. WARCO is perfectly timed to take advantage of the convergence of games and movies, journalism and online communities, in a world undergoing massive social, geo-political and technological change.

The boffins at CERN are being ‘very cautious’ about all this, but it appears they’ve observed a subatomic particle traveling faster than the speed of light.
Faster than the speed of light.
‘Einstein, come up here to the front of the class where I can keep an eye on you, you fool,’ intoned Mr Neutrino.

We’ll say this about the Norris haters.
They are persistent.
These pages (above) from ‘Cities of David’, a 1995 biography of David Norris, are circulating on the Irish internetsphere tonight having earlier been posted onto a new Twitpic account by this bloke who Tweeted “I wasn’t aware he [Norris] had married #ezra nor is the Irish public.”
Although he knows it wasn’t a wedding (but a party to celebrate Norris and his then partner Ezra’s relationship), the Tweeterer hopes these images will freak people out as much as he is freaked out by them.
He later added malevolently: “Will boy rapist Ezra be invited to the Aras if #norris wins? #aras11”
Nice.
