An unnerving blend of sculpture, taxidermy, photography and digital manipulation by Swedish artist Simen Johan. The Robert Koch Gallery says of him:
Merging traditional photographic techniques with digital methods, Johan creates each of his images from as many as one hundred negatives, having first constructed or discovered each element and photographed it on film. Across his body of work, the viewer is urged to ponder the relationship between the real and the artificial or imagined.

Rollerbladers of the Roaring Twenties – cycle skaters do their thing in Paris.
These were some hard men. The threat of a sudden involuntary forward splits was ever present.

We ran this image some weeks ago asking readers to confirm its locattion. Many have wondered – some vexatiously – why we haven’t posted an answer.
Here’s the thing. We lost the contact details of the photographer and have been unable to establish exactly where the gate is. It’s a damn mess quite frankly.
In a word: help.

UPDATE: Commenter ‘Tazzle’ suggested we contact Roisin Waite who took this photo. We did and she replied: “It was taken behind Dunboyne Castle Hotel in Meath.” So, not Dublin then. Soz.

The winner of the Michael D Higgins tea cosy, knitted by Virginia Costello, is ‘Wubblez’ who suggested:
* More content, more of the time. Content shouldn’t stop at 6pm
* Categorized articles for easy retrieval: politics, lolz, Ireland things
* Improved search functionality
* Improved graphic design, current style is effective but could be sleeker
* Forum section, dedicated discussion board
* Expansion of the service to group discussion section (gumtree, boards, etc.)
* Image sharing function like meebo.com
* A check-in functionality that people can update where they are with a user-submitted story.
* User generated content, subject to moderation
* Guest articles.
* All in all, more content for people to procrastinate with.

Have a “random post” button to click when you’re bored and want to look at a random old article.” (G)
Also: More weekend postings, better Android app, a comments rating system (including a ‘Brown Star’), adjustments to iPhone app, an iPad app, a facility to search for favourite commenters’ comments, a User name history, the default page the most recent news item ONLY, improved Facebook thingy, a redesign, less ‘Literally’, and more cats, cowbell and racism.
All will be implemented in the coming weeks. Thanks everyone.
