Black Herds Of The Rain

“When the black herds of the rain were grazing,
In the gap of the pure cold wind
And the watery hazes of the hazel
Brought her into my mind,
I thought of the last honey by the water
That no hive can find.”

You may remember Austin Clarke’s short poem ‘The Lost Heifer’ from skule.

Black Herds of The Rain is a film documenting Irish-born, London-based Conor Harrington’s trip home in the summer of 2011 to paint three walls. The journey and subsequent paintings are inspired by Clarke’s verse.
