I wanted to teach myself to knit because I wanted to make my own jumpers. Then I developed an interest in different yarns, fibres and textures and taught myself to spin my own yarns with a traditional spinning wheel.
I was spinning lots of natural coloured yarn (mostly white) and wanted to be able to dye it, so I bought some dyes and got to grips with the process. Then I saw an opportunity to go some way to supporting myself – using techniques inimitable by means of mass production.
