Finally.
Adjunct assistant professor in philosophy at Trinity College Dublin Tom McNally, above, has created illustrations inspired by the work of James Joyce over the past three years and wants to make a book out of them, called The Ondt and the Gracehoper.
The text of his book will be taken from Joyce’s Finnegans Wake, and his re-telling of Aesop’s fable of The Ant and the Grasshopper.
Tom is running a crowdfunding campaign on Fundit.ie for the book which he hopes will be published by Lilliput Press in time for the 110th anniversary of Bloomsday on June 16.
He sez:
:”‘Finnegans Wake’ is, by all accounts, one of the most difficult books you can encounter. The purpose of my illustrations is to offer people a unique entry-point into Joyce’s novel; to give them a greater sense of the kind of writing to be found in ‘Finnegan’s Wake’ – of the humour and brilliance of the language, once you move beyond its difficult surface.”
Help Tom here.
