“Watching Straight Outta LA, Ice Cube’s documentary about the Oakland Raiders. Late on, Cube conveys hip hop becoming a worldwide business at the end of the eighties by depicting himself on three global currencies; a hundred dollar bill, some yen, and ten of the aul fellas. Those first few punts must have meant a lot to him…”

Get a flatscreen
yes get an inferior product when your present one works perfectly because you need to consume to feel
How is a flat screen with sharper resolution and no glare an inferior product?
I can practically hear the low frequency hum coming from the components of that telly
Inferior?
That’s what I was thinking. Holy shit, cathode ray
This will make Jim Carroll very excited.
Is the doc any good Seamus?
That’s clearly Easy-E.
The doc’s good, Cube is not the most natural of narrators so there’s a lot of bluster and hype. It never feels particularly personal or deep. Still very interesting view on what sports meant to the sorts of kids that would become involved in gangs around that time. And the bewilderingly home made animated inserts are pretty amazing.
“So what? You see something remotely Irish on TV and you need to tell us?”
Right, is this your first time on Broadsheet or…?
Thanks
Part of the ESPN 30 for 30 series of documentaries. Many other good ones in that series.
How old is that tv or is it a computer monitor?

Anybody try it?
Yeah it’s for the illuminati Ireland branch
Seems to be 6 digits 064 number so should have another 6 in front of it (I think – someone from Kerry may know better) now. Nothing on Google for it as that though.
