From their Indiegogo (they’re going to build something similar in Burning Man):

“Okay… this Brigid lady… who is she?

Brigid is the patron of the Celtic festival of Imbolg. She is the protector of hearth and home, the bringer of light and warmth.

As fire and celebration herald a fresh understanding of the world, Brigid dispels the darkness imposed by her mischievous counterpart, Samhain. She crosses the threshold, bringing with her illumination and renewed fertility. This is manifested not only physically, but emotionally, by a new growth in awareness. Brigid is the embodiment of all elevated states, of the expanding individual and collective consciousness, the coming enlightenment.

Brigid’s presence is customarily marked by a cruciform symbol of woven rushes or reeds. This ‘Brigid’s Cross’ is still fashioned each year on the 1st February by Irish schoolchildren and hung in homes throughout the country, where it is believed to afford protection against darkness.

With Brigid’s Crossing, we imagine Brigid reciprocating the welcome she receives in Irish homes. She now invites us to cross her threshold, to enter a place of refuge in one of the harshest environments on earth. During the day she will provide respite from the dust and glare of the Black Rock Desert, an ancient lakebed devoid of life. And at night she will be a lantern to wanderers lost at the farthest edge of of their temporary metropolis, known as Black Rock City. Brigid’s Crossing draws on the symbolism of Imbolg to create a space for illuminated reflection.”

…because when the christians started proselytising in Ireland they appropriated her into their localised fairy tales but what really pissed her of was they portrayed her as a nun. Brigid of Imbolc…a nun..ffs, no wonder she was cross.

Can we stop the ‘Save Poolbeg’ stuff? They’re going nowhere. The ESB released the whole story about demolishing them to try and divert attention from their plans for the Fitzwilliam St HQ redevelopment

If we don’t save the holy Poolbeg whales, who else will?……….. sure give us a thumbs up there if you like to like https://www.facebook.com/recklessrainbow?fref=ts If you really like to like, then send us some love and help us bring a flavour of Ireland to Burning man in the Nevada desert. Where we aim to build a massive two story high burning one of these https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/brigid-s-crossing/x/7980303#home ……… Or just go for a walk with your dog when the tide is out, and enjoy my friends
